Topics President Obama will be covering in his speech according to Senior White House officials, “Obama will use the State of the Union to outline his plans to create jobs and grow the middle class, including investments in manufacturing, clean energy, education, and infrastructure. White House representatives say that Obama will also call on Congress to agree to a “grand bargain” to avert the upcoming sequester.
“It is simply a fact that while the inaugural address contained within it very powerful lines from the president about issues like comprehensive immigration reform or the need to address climate change or gun violence, all of those issues combined got less space, if you will, in the inaugural address than the economy and jobs. And that reflects the overall approach that the president takes,” White House press secretary Jay Carney told reporters.
