Jeff Bezos, CEO, and founder of Amazon is still the wealthiest person in the world after her now ex-wife, MacKenzie Bezos gives 75 percent of her shares from Amazon on a divorce settlement on Thursday.

Mr. Bezos who also owns the Blue origin, a space exploration company, and The Washington Post, announced the dissolution of their marriage in separate statements on Twitter wherein his wife explained that 75 percent of the stocks would remain in the hands of Jeff.

Before the divorce, the couple owned 16 percent of Amazon stock worth of over 140 billion dollars, according to The Verge. Since the couple married before the founding of Amazon, this makes the stock as a mutual property which can post a threat to Jeff Bezos’ control of the company once the share splits in half.

McKenzie, who willingly shares her part of the bargain, took to Twitter that the process of dissolving her marriage with Jeff finished successfully. She added that all of her interests in The Washington Post and Blue Origin were given to his ex-husband including 75 percent of Amazon stock plus her voting control of shares to support his continued contributions with the teams of the companies. While McKenzie has plans on her own, she confessed that the settlement gives her peace more than anything else.

Under the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing, it made clear that Amazon will remain in Jeff Bezos’ control. The divorce agreement, on the other hand, says that McKenzie will receive only a quarter of the couple’s Amazon holdings worth roughly 35 billion dollars, thus making her the third biggest shareholder at the company, CNBC reported. This provides Jeff all the voting power he needs to retain his influence and position in the company.

Earlier in January, the National Enquirer made a report that the couple is planning to file a divorce because rumor has it that Jeff Bezos was having an affair with Lauren Sanchez. For those who do not recognize the latter, Sanchez is a news anchor and reporter, as well as, a close family friend to the Bezoses. The following day after the two announced its divorce, the tabloid offered 11 pages of a story in its print edition describing the relationship between him and the former anchor.

In February, the Amazon founder accused the publication of blackmailing him with intimate photos shared between himself and Sanchez. He claimed that the media company threatened to publish embarrassing photos of him and Sanchez if he did not drop an investigation as to how and where the tabloid obtained the text messages revealing the affair.

National Enquirer responded to the accusation, which claimed that if Bezos were not guilty and treated Sanchez as a friend, he would not make it big of a deal. Jeff, on his blog post in Medium, defended himself that the publication was making issues to ruin his reputation and career.

But, the world focuses not on the alleged romantic affiliation of Jeff to Lauren, but how the divorce clearing retains his position as the richest man alive, with a net worth above 110 billion dollars, according to NBC News. It has come to the public that no matter what issues Jeff will be facing, especially on his relationship, it will not change the fact that his billions are doubling each year.

The couple married each other in 1993, long before the creation of Amazon. They both knew that they have to take a risk to build a long-term business, which later on, becomes the biggest company in the world. Added to their success with Amazon, the two were blessed with four children. Unfortunately, the romance between the two seems to fade after 26 years and shocked the world after announcing on January 9 that they were planning to have a divorce.

Jeff, who seems to be more than happy with the settlement, posted a tweet saying that he is grateful to all his friends and family for reaching out with encouragement and love. It means more than anything to the CEO, and acknowledged McKenzie’s support and kindness throughout the process.

The couple said that they would remain cordial and even expressed joy as they look forward to their new relationship as co-parents.
