Sega had just announced the release date for the official demo of Project Sakura Wars (新サクラ大戦). It is slated this coming November 21st, following the official upload of Huang Yui’s theme song for the game earlier this month.
The reveal was first made during the recent Playstation Festival Sapporo 2019 event. The information about this demo availability announcement was then updated at the game’s official website today, again detailing which part of the actual game the demo will include.
Recapping what was announced and what is shown at the official page:
- A portion of both visual novel sim and action battle part will be included
- The visual novel portion will mainly feature the Chinese division branch
- The combat parts will include battle sections that will use Seijuuro’s and Azami’s koubu. Related (action) scenes for that part would be included as well.
The demo will be available for free download at the Playstation Store on the appointed date. In addition, along with the reveal of the demo version, a Project Sakura Wars PS4 theme featuring Sakura was also unveiled. The theme will come in two separate artworks, one standard, and one SD (super-deformed) version, and will be available as a bonus for those who will pre-order the game.
As for Huang Yui’s (VA: Sumire Uesaka) character song, the short version of it was uploaded to Sega’s official YouTube channel yesterday. Titled Niji no Kanata (虹の彼方; Beyond the Rainbow) it features a powerful melody that evokes both grace and passion.
The hype for Project Sakura Wars escalates higher as more live update events are held, and as its official Japanese release date fast approaches. As such, the demo should prove as a temporary fix for those who are just too excited to wait further. Though, if fans receive the game positively from this limited experience, the hype may just drive up further.
Project Sakura Wars is scheduled to be released in Japan on December 12th this year, and sometime during Spring 2020 in both Europe and North America.
