People of the Internet have welcomed the newest celebrity on Instagram, and she is Jennifer Aniston. The F.R.I.E.N.D.S. star broke the Internet on Tuesday after she joined the popular photo-sharing platform and posted a selfie that takes all the beloved T.V. show fans to a trip down the memory lane.
The selfie does not only include Jennifer Aniston; it also shows other F.R.I.E.N.D.S. stars in a poorly lit room. And, everyone was more than happy to see the cast of the long-time running and award-winning sitcom in a supposed reunion.
The photo shows Aniston, who plays Rachel Green in the show together with Courtney Cox (Monica Geller), Matthew Perry (Chandler Bing), Lisa Kudrow (Phoebe Buffey), Matt LeBlanc 9joey Tribianni), and David Schwimmer (Ross Geller).
The photo was supposed to be taken in a reunion dinner hosted by Courtney Cox in her home last October 5. “The whole gang. Everyone was there,” she revealed on The Howard Stern Show on October 7.
“Schwimmer was in town, and we all happened to have a window of time, so we all got together,” Aniston added.
“And now we’re Instagram FRIENDS too. HI INSTAGRAM,” Aniston wrote as the caption of the said photo. The photo already has 911,884 likes and 64,000 comments as of writing, proof that the magic of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. has not died off after the show ended.
The photo marks the first post that Aniston made in her newly verified Instagram account, which goes under the handle @jenniferaniston. The account gained hundreds of thousands of followers an hour after she posted her first image. As of writing, the account has already garnered at least 155,000 followers and is growing thousands every minute.
Jennifer Aniston’s quirkiness also showed in her bio, which says, “My friends call me Jen.” The Morning Show star also follows her estranged husband, Justin Theroux. The couple separated in late 2017 after two years of marriage, but the two have remained good friends amid their break up.
Aniston’s debut on Instagram comes days after she revealed in an interview that she is hesitant about making an Instagram account. In the same interview, she also said that she had been pressured to enter the I.G. world.
What you resist, persists,” she told Entertainment Tonight on Sunday, October 13. “It’s something that is a part of our world now, and it’s not going away. … You can actually have a little bit more control over the narrative that’s out there. [You can] right some wrongs and some silly things that, God knows, are said often.”
As expected, the people of the Internet rejoiced and welcomed Aniston to Instagram. Many have commented on how they have long waited for the celebrity to open her official account and how the photo makes them happy.
“The internet feels Friendlier already,” commented by Derek Blasberg. In a joking manner, Sara Foster commented on the photo, saying that she actually suggested for Aniston to post a nude photo for her Instagram debut.
“I guess you didn’t go with the nude as I suggested, but this pic is cute too. So happy you are here!!!!!!” Foster commented.
