I am starting to think that this week’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race is probably the richest among all that has already aired. With richest, I mean that there’s just too much juice that happened during the episode that makes people talk about a new thing now and then.
Well, the maxi-challenge was bold in itself. It has become a political statement to forward the cause of women leaving the audiences with the message of “the future is female.” It is also about Trump and his anti-gay record and white nationalist record. It’s a very powerful message, and people should be able to learn one thing or two from it.
But beyond all the political shenanigans that happened during the maxi-challenge, there are also other things that people keep talking about in the episode. So many teas has been spilled, and we’re all here to sip.
MISS VANJIE AND BROOKE LYNN HYTES
Who would have thought that two competing queens would openly flirt with each other in the show? Michelle Visage and other fans called it a “Showmance.”
We have foreseen that this edit would happen in this week’s episode. In Episode 3, a short clip was shown in the show where Brooke Lynn, the first Canadian queen in the competition, and Vanessa Vanjie Matteo, the comeback queen from Season 10, kissed. While it is normal for friends to kiss, other queens began to notice that there is something that’s happening between the two when they exchanged compliments regarding the performance they did in the challenge. Very cheesy indeed.
So here comes Episode 4 and the flirting continues, this time, in Untucked. Miss Vanjie placed low in the episode and was in the brink of lipsyncing. Brooke Lynn approached her to console her for the critiques given to her by the judges in the main stage. Guess what: they ended up kissing again. This time, it was more romantic. Nina West saw what happened and asked the two about their relationship, which they both denied.
When Tiffany Pollard, New York’s famous reality T.V. superstar who was the guest judge for the episode, went in the lounge to talk to the girls, she asked if there are kai kai’s that are happening within the queens. The contestants pointed their stares at Brooke Lynn and Vanjie, but both of them refused to either confirm or deny.
This is where it gets cheesier. During the viewing party at Roscoe’s with Detox, Shuga Cain, and Kahanna Montresse as the guests, Detox spilled that after filming, she went to have drinks and hang out with Brooke Lynn and Miss Vanjie came through. At the end of the night, she said she was gagged by what’s happening between the two. This confirms that Brooke Lynn and Vanjie are still seeing each other after filming.
Detox did not give many details in her story, but girl Shuga and Kahanna did! They said that during the time of filming, in the bus that transports girls from their hotel to the place where they are filming, Brooke Lynn and Vanjie were obviously flirting with each other. They even demonstrated how the two are sitting together, and they’re both all over each other. Gooped.
“They were like more like connecting with each other [not kissing], so I know that something is coming, but I didn’t know that they’re gonna take it to that,” Kahanna explained.
When asked when did the thing between Brooke Lynn and Vanjie started, Shuga said that it started during filming.
“That’s why I’m like what the hell is going on,” Shuga exclaimed.
“On the bus,” added Kahanna.
Vanjie and Brooke Lynn are also spotted to be commenting flirtatious messages in each other’s posts and Instagram live videos. In one instance, Vanjie called Brooke Lynn a “cute raccoon” and complimented her “nice” butt.
However, Vanessa Vanjie Matte updated her fans regarding her relationship status in one of her Instagram live videos. She was seen drunk and saying “I am single.”
The judges also chimed in the tea and revealed that they too were shocked, but they’re happy about it.
“Listen, Drag Race has the drama, the fashion, the one thing that we never had, was a romance. And so when I heard the rumors that this is happening behind the scenes, I was like ‘Oh, please, bring me that.’ I think that’s the one thing we haven’t delivered on in our season of Drag Race,” said Ross Matthews referring to the budding romance between the two queens. /apr
