Uber: Our Lost And Found Index Will Leave You Wondering

You’re in front of a cashier, you reach your hand to your pocket, but what you’re looking for it isn’t there. You try the other pocket, both at the back of your pants; you scramble your bag. A sudden rush of panic, cold sweat, and your world suddenly stops. You ask yourself, where did I leave my wallet? It’s not at home; you paid for your Uber. Then the panic slightly recedes, you realized, you left it in your Uber.

The Uber Lost & Found Index is a snapshot of their most commonly lost and most unusual forgotten items. It also highlights which cities are most forgetful, and which days of the week people tend to be most forgetful.

The 10 most commonly forgotten items are: phones, cameras, wallets, keys, purses/backpack, clothes, glasses, headphones, e-cigs and IDs. But who’s interested?

The most “unique” lost items are delightful: One Gucci flip flop. A salmon head. A professional grade hula hoop. A Lego championship wrestling belt. A Babe Ruth signed baseball or a limited-edition Chance the Rapper Starbucks gift card. “Over the last year we have seen millions of people across the world ride with Uber, which means a variety of items get left behind,” Dan Brubaker, Uber’s Lost Items lead, told in a report.

Most Forgetful Days / Times:

  • Uber riders are most forgetful on Saturdays and Sundays, and late at night – between 11pm and 1am.
  • We saw that the most forgetful days of the year were January 1, 2018 and October 29, 2018 – New Years and Halloween.

Lost items that peak on certain days:

  • People are most likely to forget watches on Monday
  • People are most likely to forget headphones on Tuesday
  • People are most likely to forget laptops on Wednesday
  • People are most likely to forget books on Thursday
  • People are most likely to forget passports on Friday
  • People are most likely to forget phones on Saturday
  • People are most likely to forget cakes on Sunday

Don’t start your new losing something; you’re most likely to forget your phone on a Saturday night out than on a Friday; and forgetting your laptop in the middle of the week, ain’t no good either.

So let’s say you did forgot something on your Uber. Just tap menu > your trips>I need to get back an item > contact driver about lost item > wait for response, to get an item to get it back.
