The rumors are true: The Jonas Brothers is officially Back!
Jonas Brothers’ Nick, 26, Joe, 29, Kevin, 31, have reunited after six years since they disbanded to release a new single that fans will surely love, on Friday, March 5th.
The reunion single entitled ‘Sucker’ is a fast-paced pop tune that the brothers have been “burning up trying to keep a secret.”
The brothers will release their new single in a week-long takeover of The Late Late Show With James Corden starting on Monday, where they will discuss their timely reunion, the story behind the single, take part in sketches, join Carpool Karaoke, and perform “ Sucker” on TV for the very first time.
A promo of the takeover was also posted last Thursday showing the brothers in a car with James Corden on the show’s Carpool Karaoke segment.
“It’s nice to be able to tell somebody finally,” Nick says on Carpool Karaoke. “We’ve kept this a secret now for almost seven, eight months. This is our first performance back.”
“I’ve gotta dust off the cobwebs, here we go,” Kevin says.
The two-minute promo shows Corden picking up Joe Jonas before Nick Jonas, and Kevin Jonas jumped in for a sing-along session as they drive around the streets if Los Angeles.
The group also tweeted the clip alongside the caption: “We’re baaaccckkkk…”
Interesting, the tweet came after a shocking incident where Nick, Joe, and Kevin blacked out their social media accounts only to return with updated profile pictures of the three brothers together.
After their 2013 break-up, the three have lived separate lives with Nick launching his solo career, Joe producing music with his band DNCE, and Kevin tending to his real estate and construction business.
Formed in 2005, the group has found fame in Disney Channel as they cast in the box-office hit teenage show, Camp Rock. They played the role of the band called Connect Three.
They also starred as Kevin, Joe, and Nick Lucas, the band Lucas in their own Disney Channel series Jonas, which was rebranded as Jonas L.A. after the first season and canceled after the second.
The 8-year career of the Jonas Brothers has released four albums: It’s About Time (2006), Jonas Brothers (2007), A Little Bit Longer (2008), and Lines, Vines and Trying Times (2009), three of which scored consecutive number ones in the US and global charts. The four albums collectively sold over 17 million dollars worldwide.
The brothers were raised in Wyckoff, New Jersey but later moved to Little Falls, New Jersey where they wrote their first record that has propelled their career following its successful Hollywood release.
In 2008, the group was nominated for the Best New Artist award at the 51st Grammy Awards and won the award for Breakthrough Artist at the American Music Awards.
After a hiatus during 2010 and 2011 to pursue solo projects, the group reconciled in 2012 to record a new album, which was canceled following their break-up on October 29, 2013.
Last year, the three brothers managed to fool their fans of a reunion after they reactivated the official Instagram account of the Jonas Brothers but since vehemently denied the rumors of a reunion until earlier today.
As expected, the reunion has received thunderous applause from their fans, with some even moved to tears.
Because of the reunion announcement, a Twitter user has reported that Jonas Brothers’ official Twitter account has gained more followers from 3.9 million to four million within minutes even if the page has not made any tweet since 2014.
Some other tweeters reminisced the feeling of hearing the songs from the brothers’ boy band and watching their live performance.
Another has summarized the achievements of JoBro to prove to his followers why the band’s reunion is a big thing.
A Twitter user also noticed how the fans still mention and love the Jonas Brothers amidst them being heartbroken after the group has broken up.
Some are crying because of the happiness brought by the reunion that they all ‘have been waiting for.’
