Nintendo Direct Announced ‘Pokémon Sword And Shield’ For Switch

Nintendo Direct announced the coming of two new Pokémon game in the Nintendo Switch ecosystem. Dubbed as “Pokémon Sword” and “Pokémon Shield,” the two new titles adds to the exciting adventures of every Pokémon trainer which according to the Pokémon Company CEO, Tsunekazu Ishihara, a continued effort to introduce stunning new regions in the Pokémon universe.

The new Pokémon game takes place in the Galar region, a vast area that exhibits a diverse environment composed of cities, forests, snowy mountains, and rock-bound regions. As the old games go, players get the chance to visit Galar and explore various gyms on their quests to become Pokémon champions.

There are three starter Pokémons named as Grooky, a Grass-type Pokémon which is said to be mischievous and full of curiosity; Scorbunny, a Fire-type Pokémon who loves to roam around; and, Sobble, a Water-type Pokémon that blasts Water attacks.

In the presentation, Ishihara detailed that there are more additional monsters that will come in the new Pokémon game. Pokémon Sword and Shield also brings back random encounters which most players missed from previous titles. As seen in the presentation footage, you’ll encounter new Pokémon/monsters as you explore the vast land of Galar.

Further, judging by the new Pokémon graphics, which the company deliberately claim “not final,” Sword and Shield divert to a more playful and scenic move.

Ishihara explained in the presentation the inspiration behind the two new Pokémon titles. He explained;

Since then, trainers around the world have discovered new Pokémon, engaged in epic battles, and made countless memories along the way. We look forward to continuing this journey by exploring a stunning new region in the Pokémon universe.

Unfortunately, Nintendo hasn’t shared clues on what the two new titles will showcase. Though, seeing the line-up of starter Pokémon, it’s evident that a diversity of new monsters will come once the game is released in the Switch platform this year.

Fans, on the other hand, are busy raking all the goodies the Pokémon Company has to offer this 2019. The upcoming Detective Pikachu, who dropped its new trailer last Tuesday, garnering positive feedback from the global audience.

Back in E3 2017, Nintendo teased fans of the upcoming Pokémon game that is unique and ahead of the “Let’s Go” series. The Pokémon Sword and Shield is 100% a must see. We’ll update you once new information is released. Maybe a first look at the new starter Pokémon? So, stay tuned!
