Gaga’s monsters around the world are rejoicing today. Who wouldn’t when Lady Gaga is now officially an Oscar winner.
“Shallow” from her world-renowned movie, A Star Is Born, has taken home the Best Original Song at Sunday’s Academy Awards 2019 ceremony, as expected by many of her fans.
The award did not really shock audiences, especially fans, as the runaway smash hit from Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut movie has since topped the US charts from the film’s release. The song was a fan-favorite and spectator’s bet to win.
As the film was shut out in the major categories at major ceremonies after a lengthy and disappointing awards season, the film’s Oscar chances came to rest entirely on “Shallow” — and thankfully, it did not disappoint.
Lady Gaga emotionally accepted the award and expressed her gratitude towards her co-writer, Mark Ronson, and her family.
“If you are at home and you’re sitting on your couch, and you’re watching this right now, all I have to say is that this is hard work…… It’s not about winning, but what it’s about is not giving up. It’s not about how many times you get rejected or fall down, or you’re beaten up. It’s about how many times you stand up, and you’re brave, and you keep going.”
Without any introduction, Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper performed ‘Shallow’ live in the ceremony, as the two launched the song from their seats in the audience to make their way to the stage and deliver a powerful performance.
With this Oscar trophy, Lady Gaga will forever go down in history as the first female artist to win three major awards from three major award-giving bodies.
Lady Gaga did it! Congrats, Mother Monster! /apr
