Ariana Grande, the multi-awarded pop superstar, finally breaks her silence as to why she is not performing at Grammy’s awards show on Sunday.
Despite being on the original line up, fans were disappointed after hearing the sad news that Grande is not taking the stage for the award’s night. It causes a stir of confusion especially in social media, until last February 7 when the pop superstar finally sets the record straight on Twitter calling Grammy’s executive producer Ken Ehrlich’s statement as a lie.
It all started with an interview of Ken Ehrlich at The Associated Press, in which the music awards show producer said that Grande chose not to perform at the Grammy’s on Sunday saying “it was too late for her to pull something together for sure” In response to this, Grande tweeted her side of the story and shared screenshots of Ehrlich’s statement on AP.
She then went on to explain why the said negotiation failed in the first place. “I’ve kept my mouth shut, but now you’re lying about me. I can pull together a performance overnight and you know that Ken,” she also wrote “It was when my creativity & self-expression was stifled by you, that I decided not to attend. I hope the show is exactly what you want it to be and more.”
Grande’s public tweets came after several reports indicated that she would not attend the award show despite being nominated for two Grammys. Sources of Variety said that Grande and the producers had a disagreement regarding with her chosen songs. She picked “7 Rings” her newest single from Thank U, Next but the producers refused to let her do the medley and offered a second song. “It’s about art and honesty. Not Politics. They are not doing favors or playing games. It’s just a game Y’all..and I’m sorry, but that’s not what music is to me.” added Grande as she talks about creative freedom.
Although fans expressed dismay over the news, Ariana Grande still has a big announcement for everyone who wishes to see her performance – the release of her new album “Thank U, Next.”
