The hit British teen comedy series ‘Sex Education’ is confirmed by Netflix to have its second season.
The premiere season starring Asa Butterfield as Otis Milburn, who leads an ironic life as an inexperienced timid son of an open-minded sex therapist, Dr. Jean Milburn (Gillian Anderson). Otis teams up with bad-girl Maeve (Emma Mackey) to set-up an underground sex therapy clinic for fellow students. He uses this opportunity to share his “knowledge” as a way of escalating his social status.
According to the streaming platform, Sex Education is one of its most popular recent originals with over 40 million members viewing from its January 11 premiere release. Although, critics argue that the views reached that number due to the auto-play feature which boosts viewership count.
The show sheds light to various topics mainly well, sex and other things. It also tackles sensitive issues such as one’s sexuality, abortion and even diversity. Hence, it is no wonder why people really loved the show.
Creator Laurie Nunn said in a statement, “The reception to season one has been so exciting. Seeing how people across the world have connected to characters that began as ideas in my head is incredible. I’m hugely grateful to every person that has taken the time to watch the series, and I can’t wait to continue this amazing journey.”
Laurie Nunn will return as creator and executive producer with Jamie Campbell set to executive produce alongside Nunn. The team has yet to release the date for season 2 but they have already announced that the team will start production by spring in the UK. Like the first season, it will also be having 8 episodes.
For sure, fans will be waiting for new characters and twists that will be presented in the next season.
