Fan-favorite drag queen, Manila Luzon, was eliminated on her third bid to become America’s Next Drag Superstar and second attempt to be inducted to the Drag Race Hall of Fame, when Naomi Smalls, a rather middle-of-the-road competitor this season, gave her the chop in the eighth episode of Rupaul’s Drag Race – All Stars 4 that aired February 1st on VH1.

Manila, who has had the most wins and has never been in the bottom for the entire season sashayed-away after she fell on the bottom with Latrice Royale on a makeover challenge where they had to put their ‘best judies’ in drag and perform a tribute to the iconic Judy Garland.

The shocking elimination went after Naomi Smalls won the ‘lipsync for your legacy’ against Monet Xchange to Judy Garland’s “Come Rain or Come Shine” where the leg-endary queen outperformed the Sponge Queen and saving Latrice Royale, the come-back queen who saved her from the previous episode’s elimination that sent Valentina home.

The elimination that changes the game

In previous episodes, the queens have been very vocal about how they want to send their competion home. They came into a consensus that they will base their decisions on track record and judges’ critiques.

However, Manila seemed to put a target on her back when earlier in the season, she tried to send Monet Xchange home to save her friend, Latrice, from going home. This move by the Filipino-born queen raised eyebrows in the workroom even prompting queens to question how safe they are when it’s Manila’s turn to decide.

Naomi Smalls said that “…with Manila, who knows who will she choose…” in one of the deliberations, showing that she does not trust that Manila will follow the consensus in sending queens home.

Meanwhile, during the recent episode of PitStop, Trixie Mattel, the winner of RPDR – All Stars 3, said that Manila’s elimination changes the game.

“I am gagged and gooped…but I think this is the first time we see someone make a truly competitive decision, this changes the game…and this has been the craziest elimination I’ve seen on Drag Race for my whole life”, Mattel said.

Manila also gained notoreity after she appeared in the first season of Rupaul’s Drag Race – All Stars and was partnered with her real-life close friend, Latrice Royale, where they both slayed challenges and runway looks as the famous ‘Latrila’ but went home after a few episodes after Manila Luzon failed to save their team in a LFYL against the lipsync assasin, Jujubee, to Janet Jackson’s Nasty. \apr
