No More Fuel for this Rocket!

Carmelo Anthony has seemed to be on fumes right now with his tenure with the Houston Rockets. He played against the Oklahoma City Thunder, November 18 and scored just 2 points on 1 of 11 shooting and hasn’t played since due to what they call an ‘illness’ and teammates, as well as coaching staff, believe that it was his last game as a Rocket. Carmelo Anthony didn’t even bother to come with the team on their road game against the Denver Nuggets which they won by double digits.

Just 10 games into the season with the Rockets, averaging 13.4 points, 5.4 rebound while shooting 40.5 percent from the field, was filled with drama and criticism from every walk of life who talks ball. A future Hall of Famer who has started for every team he has played with for last 15 seasons now comes off the bench and isn’t the same.

But every player has their ups and downs but this time around Melo’s situation is ‘extremely unfair’ according to Rockets GM Daryl Morey while saying this in a rare pre-game conference – “We’re struggling as a team, and it’s my job, it’s Coach’s job to figure this thing out. But from guy one to guy 15 — and I’ll put myself in there; a lot of this is on me right now — we’re not playing well. We’ve just got to figure it out. We’re evaluating everything.”.

Anthony might be in a world of pain right now being the fall guy of a struggling team, a team that was just a win away from a trip to the NBA Finals, a team with the best record last season, but winning 2 out of 3 games with his absence by double-digit margins, they might just be right.

Carmelo’s representatives are reaching out to other NBA teams since the Rockets front office have been rumored to waive Anthony come Monday, a surprise to Melo and offices around the NBA on how fast the Rockets have given up on the 10-time all-star.

Melo, when waived, can claim the veteran minimum contract of $2.4 million he has under the Rockets on waivers or he could clear them and be a free agent. But according to Tracy McGrady, he could retire. He could hang up his sneakers and not further tarnish his reputation as a prolific scorer as his slump continues, but of course, redemption through proving everybody wrong when he signs with a new team is oh so sweet to turn down.
