El Chapo The Mexican Cartel Boss Is Now In Trial In Manhattan

Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman who headed the Sinaloa drug cartel – the world’s largest trade of drugs, cocaine, meth, and heroin. This drug cartel has been on the top lists ever since, but this man always finds a way to get out of it. “El Chapo” is the person behind the manufacture and also the distribution of illegal drugs in the US and also participates in killings of his rivals. He was finally captured in January 2016 although have escaped numerous times from Mexico jails in the previous years.

It is interesting how he escaped from his prison cell: the first time he did in 2001, reports say he hid in a laundry basket. The second, in July of 2015, his “team of engineers” dug a tunnel from their hiding place to his prison cell. They also built tunnels to transfer drugs from Mexico to the US borders.

“El Chapo” has been one of the biggest suppliers of drugs mainly in Mexico and the US and it has been difficult to find him due to his long-term plans and strategies in drug trafficking. Today, he is now under intense security in the USA after having escaped prison so many times. He is to undergo trial in New York. It is said that his former associates have pleaded guilty and will testify against him in the trial.

Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman has said today in defense that he is not the “real boss” of the Sinaloa, there is someone else named “El Mayo” who have been paying the Mexican president hundreds of millions for bribery.

Earlier today, Juror No. 1 had to be dismissed as the judge had received a letter from her doctor that she is unable to be on trial. This followed a delay in El Chapo’s trial since lawyers had to pick a new one to replace Juror No. 1 from potential jurors.

As the trial has begun early today, El Chapo remains in prison with high-security in Manhattan, and the city of Manhattan has been under intense security as well. His trial caused a high alert in the area as he is known to plan great escapes.
