Victoria Secret Apologizes About Transgender Comment Issue

After the big fashion show of Victoria Secret, last November 8 that was held in New York, a comment from Mr. Razek about transgender in an interview with Vogue magazine has made a significant issue.

After the interview incident, Mr. Razek made a public apology on Friday on Twitter about transgender models remark. This after Vogue asked him on why they have not cast any transgender models in their fashion show. Instead of saying transgender, he used the term  “transsexuals,” an old-school term. Mr. Razek has said that they have ‘considered’ including plus size women and transgender in their show but opt the consideration out as the company “did not market to the whole world.” He even added that they offer large sizes, their brand thinks of diversity, but they believe that they cannot have a transexual in their show. Because according to him, the show is a fantasy, one of a kind show that runs 42-minute entertainment special.

Check out his statement on Twitter below:

“My remark regarding the inclusion of transgender models in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show came across as insensitive. I apologize,” he wrote in a statement tweeted from the Victoria’s Secret account. “To be clear, we absolutely would cast a transgender model for the show. We’ve had transgender models come to castings…And like many others, they didn’t make it…But it was never about gender. I admire and respect their journey to embrace who they really are.”

Because of his comment, a lot of people made different reactions mostly netizens. Some are not fond of his comment in the interview, but others have defended his side. Model Kendal Jenner posted on her Instagram story ‘Celebrate Trans Women’. While model Tess Holiday tweeted that Victoria Secret can ‘kiss my fat ass.’

Meanwhile, the crowd favorite model Adriana Lima had her final walk and officially hang her wings off on the latest Victoria Secret show. During her Victoria Secret moment, Adriana Lima had 18 VS Fashion Shows, 5 Show Opening, 9 Segment Opening, 3 Show Closing, 3 Fantasy Bra & 47 Outfits. She is considered as one of the Greatest Angel of all time and a legend.
