Trump Announces Resignation Of US Ambassador to UN Nikki Haley

Together with the president, US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley announced her resignation on Tuesday, October 9 and will leave her position by the end of 2018. Although she did not give a reason for her exit to the job, she only said that she wanted to take ‘a little time off.’ Earlier, President Donald Trump tweeted: “Big announcement with my friend Ambassador Nikki Haley in the Oval Office at 10:30 am,” which then shocked many.

Roughly six months before her resignation she already told the president that she wanted this by the end of the year.

Trump started with a word saying, “I wanted to do this because Nikki Haley, Ambassador to the United Nations is very special to me. She has done an incredible job, she is a fantastic person, very importantly she also is also somebody that gets it,” he added, “we solved a lot of problems.”

Meanwhile, A day before her resignation, Haley was accused of accepting gifts from South Carolina’s business leaders who are reported to be seven luxury private plane trips, and some are doubting her resignation.

Nikki Haley is a member of Trump’s cabinet and also South Carolina’s former governor. After this news, people are speculating that she is to run for president in 2020 but says she has no plans to do so.

Reports say that Trump is considering Dina Powell to replace Nikki Haley though announcements have not yet been made.

Ivanka Trump confirmed that it is not going be her in replacement for Ambassador Haley. In her tweet, she honored Nikki Haley as a ‘great colleague.’ And that she is confident with her decision and the president for a replacement which will be out in two to three weeks from now.

She also included that the ambassador indeed served the country with all her might — her ‘dignity and distinction.’ Haley is undoubtedly is a woman of strength and integrity. Ivanka concluded that Nikki is a true friend and a blessing in her life and Jared’s.

The president praised Haley for an excellent job well done throughout the years in service. He even added that he considers the thought of having Nikki Haley back in his cabinet perhaps a higher position in the future and he still hopes to see her continue with her advocacy.
