Nicole Kidman’s father, psychologist Antony Kidman died in Singapore, authorities said.
Nicole Kidman’s dad was visiting his other daughter, Antonia, and his grandchildren who live in Singapore and suffered the fall after eating breakfast at his hotel.
Singapore’s Civil Defence Force received a call for help from Tanglin Club shortly after 8am local time and applied cardio-pulmonary resuscitation. Antony Kidman was pronounced dead shortly before 10am at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
The “family is in shock and is grieving,” Nicole’s publicist and long-time friend Wendy Day, told Daily Mail Australia.
“I think that some time and privacy is needed to deal with this shock and tragedy,” Day added.
Dr Kidman was a clinical psychologist at Royal North Shore Hospital and a director of health psychology at the University of Technology Sydney.
“It is with great sadness that we learn of Dr Tony Kidman’s sudden passing. During his 43 years at the University of Technology, Sydney, Tony has contributed greatly as a colleague, as a researcher, and as a health practitioner,” Vice-Chancellor Professor Attila Brungs said in a statement. “Tony will be missed by all at UTS. Our thoughts are with his family at this time.”
There has been no official statement from Nicole Kidman, but she shared a close relationship with her father, often bringing him and her mother, Janelle, onto the red carpet with her at premieres and award shows.
Nicole Kidman has previously been quoted describing her father as a great man that she could rely on at any time of the day. “He’s a great father, I can call him at three in the morning and he’s there for me,” she said.
