Kwasi Enin Accepted to All Eight Ivy League Schools

Accepted to All Ivy League Colleges

Kwasi Enin has a tough decision to make this fall; which of the eight Ivy League universities should he attend?!

The 17-year-old aspiring physician and violist senior at William Floyd High School in Mastic, applied and was accepted into each of the eight elite Ivy colleges and universities.

Enin says he got the idea to apply to all eight in 10th or 11th grade, discovering that each has “their own sense of school spirit” and other qualities he liked.

“By applying to all eight, I figured it would better the chances of getting into one,” he said.

For most of the Ivy League schools, being accepted is rare, even for the top students. Cornell University admitted only 14% of applicants, meanwhile, Harvard accepted just 5.9%.

The first generation Ghanaian son of two immigrant nurses ranks 11th in his class of 647 at William Floyd High School. He scored 2,250 out of 2,400 (the 99th percentile) on his SATs. He has taken 11 AP courses, sings at school, and volunteers at a local hospital’s radiology department.

“I’m thinking of being a cardiologist or neurologist,” Enin told NY Daily News. “A doctor is a community leader, a protector, someone who people turn to when they need help.”

“My heart skipped a beat when he told me he was applying to all eight. I’ve never seen anything like it in my 15 years as a high school counselor,” said Nancy Winkler, Enin’s guidance counselor. “It’s a big deal when we have students apply to one or two Ivies. To get into one or two is huge. It was extraordinary. He’s going to be a leader in whatever he chooses.”

Kwasi Enin was accepted into Harvard, Columbia, Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Princeton, Penn and Yale.

Kwasi Enin also applied to three state universities and Duke, as a backup. He was accepted by those schools as well.
