Father Son Duo Arrested for Allegedly Kidnapping and Performing Exorcism on Ex-wife

Father Son Arrested for Exorcism

Something you would see in the movies, a father and his son arrested for allegedly kidnapping his ex-wife to perform an exorcism on her.

San Joaquin County Sheriff’s officials say 42-year-old Jose Magana-Farias and his son, 20-year-old Victor Farias, thought the woman had undergone some drastic and worrisome personality changes that led them to believe she had been possessed by demons.

The California Father/Son duo arranged to meet with her at a Walmart in north Stockton on Saturday with the understanding of trying to make the marriage work, according to Lt. Mike Jones, of the San Joaquin Sheriff’s Department.

She willingly got in the car and after getting into the car, the men picked up two priests before forcing the woman to undergo an exorcism, Jones said.

The woman was then doused with sacred oil and “purified” during a religious ritual, according to KCRA-TV. No torture was involved and the woman was found physically unharmed. The victim’s roommate reported the alleged kidnapping.

A neighbor told Fox40 that Magana-Farias was a “doting father to his two middle school-aged children,” adding that the ex-wife had recently been visiting the Stockton home and the children for weeks at a time. The couple had reportedly been divorced for about a year ago.

“He’s a real nice guy. He works every day — six days a week.… [You] just don’t expect something like that,” the neighbor told Fox 40.

The two men are being held in jail under suspicion of kidnapping, conspiracy to commit a crime and false imprisonment.

The priests involved will not face any charges.

  1. Why would this be considered kidnapping? She willingly got into the car and she was returned to her home after the alleged exorcism.
The extent of damage may be a dry-cleaning bill (depending on what she was wearing). And she may have lost a demon.

I think the father acted out of concern for his children. I hope this Father and son have a good lawyer. They should not have been arrested.
