Airing tonight, July 15, the MLB Home Run Derby is the start of All-Star Game 2013 week. The Home Run Derby is second most viewed next to the All-Star game in MLB’s All-Star festivities.
This year’s MLB All-Star Game festivities take place at the New York Mets’ home field of Citi Field. Citi Field opened in 2009 and was one of the most difficult places to hit a home run during its first three seasons. It then prompted the Mets to move in the fences in 2012, particularly in leftfield, the primary target of Wright, their franchise cornerstone.
Currently, Citi Field in New York, has the dimensions of 335 feet to left field, 375 feet to right, and 408 feet to straight-away center field.
Tonight, eight MLB competitors line up, with four representing the American League and four representing the National League with the intent to hit the most home runs as possible.
