Vidal Sassoon disinherited his adopted son, David Sassoon from his will.
The will was wrote up two months prior to the famous hair stylists death in May 2012.
Vidal Sassoon made it very clear in the terms of his last will and testament of concerns with his son, David Sassoon.
Vidal Sassoon’s will stated, “My son David Sassoon and his issue are hereby disinherited and shall take nothing under this will, and for the purposes of the will, shall be deemed to have predeceased me, leaving no surviving issue.”
David will now be losing out on inheriting a $152 million empire.
David was adopted in 1975 at age three and in Vidal Sassoon’s 2010 autobiography, Vidal reflected on his life with David, and while he still had love for him, it had not been an easy relationship.
The autobiography describes David, 41-years old, as “mischievous,” and wrote about “walking away” from his son 18 months prior because he couldn’t make peace with his adopted son. “There’s a certain point in my character where if I feel a situation is hopeless – walk away. Don’t torment yourself constantly. I walked away,” Vidal wrote.
David Sassoon isn’t the only one that was given the cold shoulder. The will also disinherits Vidal Sassoon’s former three wives; Elaine Nations, Beverly Sassoon and Jeanette Sassoon, saying they shall ‘take nothing’.
Vidal Sassoon had a house in Notting Hill, West London. Along with had two other surviving children – Elan and Eden. A third child, Catya, died of a drug overdose in 2002.
Sassoon became famous for his architectural design to haircuts in the late 1950s and early 1960s, developing a look that eschewed the tradition of stiff, sprayed styles with the hair piled high and that dispensed with the need for women to wear hair curlers to bed and make weekly trips to the salon, reports a New York Times article after his death.
Sassoon died of leukemia at the age of 84, at his home in Los Angeles.
