An Amber Alert that was issued early Monday morning for 2-year old Denise Hernandez has been cancelled.
The toddler who went missing Sunday from the 400 block of Wells Street in Immokalee, Florida. Sheriff’s officials reported she disappeared through the window. They wouldn’t say whether the toddler climbed out on her own or was taken from the home.
Denise Hernandez was put down to sleep in her bed by her guardian around 9 p.m. Sunday. She was discovered missing a couple of hours later and the bedroom window was open. Florida Department of Law Enforcement officials spoke with her parents and they say that the window was closed when she put in bed.
Around 10 hours after Denise Hernandez disappeared, neighbors and law enforcement officials from several agencies went searching, as well as tracking dogs had been released near a field off Immokalee Road, about a quarter-mile from the Hernandez home. She “waddled toward more than a dozen searchers and a few tracking dogs, crying as they descended upon her,” reported WPTV.
Bruno Campos, a neighbor of the family, said he had spoke with the toddler’s father and heard him cry on the phone as he received the news that his daughter, Denise Hernandez was found.
“It’s pretty amazing they found her alive,” Campos said. “It brings joy to everybody that they found her OK.”
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office issued a sketch of Hernandez Monday morning. At 10 a.m. the notice went out that Hernandez had been found safe and sound. The sheriff’s office wouldn’t report where the girl was located or when she will be reunited with her family.
Officials remain at the scene to hopefully find clues about her disappearance.
Hernandez is described as 3 feet tall, 40 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a white nightgown with multi-colored stripes. Authorities ask anyone with information about the disappearance of Denise Hernandez to call the nearest law enforcement agency or call the Collier County Sheriff’s Office at 239-252-9300.
