Jenna Bush Hager announced on NBC’s Today Show that she is expecting her first child with husband Henry Hager this Spring 2013.
The announcement came when the Today anchors shared their favorite holiday memories and traditions. Savannah Guthrie asked Jenna Bush Hager if she had something better to share than the holiday traditions she has.
Savannah Guthrie said, “I feel like we have a bigger story than that. Do you have some news you want to share with us?!”
That’s when Jenna Bush Hager stated she was nervous but excited to announce she is pregnant. She told Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie that she was excited and nervous because she’s a first time mom, but it’s something she’s always wanted. Especially with being a teacher and loving kids so much.
Jenna Bush Hager picked at herself for being emotional and hormonal with her pregnancy. Savannah Guthrie was able to crack back and say, “She was just crying at the Maxwell House commercial.”
Jenny Bush Hager’s husband, Henry Hager came walking out holding a bundle of white flowers for his wife, congratulating her with the announcement of pregnancy.
Matt Lauer looked at Henry Hager and asked, “You know her more than anybody, what type of mom do you think Jenna will be?” Henry responded with a sweet answer, “Amazing, absolutely amazing. You obviously see her personality everyday. She’s a teacher. I know she will instill wonder values into our wonderful family.”
The former President George Bush was on a call with NBC Today for the announcement of Jenna Bush Hager’s pregnancy. He shared that he’s, “fired up. I’m looking forward to it. I could barely contain the news.”
“I’m thrilled for Jenna and Henry and, of course, for George and me to have the grandchildren that we’ve been really looking forward to,” said Laura Bush.
Laura Bush and Jenna’s twin sister, Barbara, have already volunteered to help decorate the nursery. “She’s really into how she’s going to help me design the nursery,” the NBC News correspondent says of her twin, Barbara. “They’ll have to settle for neutral colors,” she says. Henry and her are planning to wait to learn the sex of the baby.
In the meantime, Jenna Bush Hager will be serving as an executive producer of A White House Christmas: First Families Remember, featuring the former first daughters and first lady reminiscing about their holidays at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. The special will air December 20, 2012 at 8 p.m. on NBC.
Jenna Bush Hager is the youngest daughter of George W. Bush’s twins. She was recently named editor-at-large of the “Southern Living” magazine.
Jenna and Henry first met during her father’s second presidential campaign. Four years later, May 10, 2008 the couple married on her parents ranch near Crawford, TX. They now reside in New York.
