Tsung Tsung, the piano prodigy appeared on The Ellen Show Monday, November 5, 2012 and performed live for the first time.
Tsung Tsung, first spotted on Youtube with his amazing piano skills, all smiles, but serious piano concentration too. Ellen DeGeneres flew him and his parents in from Hong Kong so he could perform for the audience. There wasn’t any doubt this young piano prodigy would move the audience. He has amazing talent and a gift.
While Tsung Tsung can’t speak English, there was an interpreter there to help the communication between Tsung Tsung and Ellen. Whenever Ellen would ask Tsung Tsung a question, the interpreter would translate it for him and back to Ellen. Ellen was a bit skeptical at first as his answers sounded like one word, but the translator had more to say.
When Ellen asked why he wore a White tux? Tsung Tsung responded with, “Because white is stylish.”
The conversation got down to business as Ellen stated that Tsung Tsung started to play piano when he was only 3-years-old. He said his favorite composer was “Mozart because his music is beautiful and he was a child prodigy pianist. I want to be like him.”
Tsung Tsung performed the fast-paced Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov composition “Flight of the Bumblebee” on The Ellen Show. You can tell the child was a little nervous as he didn’t seem nearly as bubbly and smiley as he did in his YouTube video; which now has over 2.1 million views.
Tsung Tsung piano video performance has won him many fans, including Simpleguy sg, who said “his playing posture looks like some concert pianist and quite old school,” while another admirer, gizy87, said the boy “has a great future,” and user Albert Nguyen wonders, “I want to know his tutor; training must have started in the womb.”
Another fan that goes by Ken Mask on YouTube made a great point. He said, “Wonderful, excellent and well done parents, well done! We often fail to acknowledge the care and attention that parents of these prodigies, they have shown the world what can be accomplished with teaching… Well done!”
