Microsoft Windows has been around for generations and over the years they have reinvented not only themselves but also the programming on Laptops and Desktops. With Window’s 7 being a major success it would be tough to duplicate, but Microsoft will try to do just that with the new Windows 8.
The newest windows version is set to release in the United States this Friday, Oct. 26. The ideal or goal of Windows 8 was basically to combine modern technology to its product. This version has tied together Microsoft’s PC, tablet and the Windows phone all into one hip look according to NBC News.
It is reported that Window’s 8 is the biggest revision in the companies history, but with change comes much skepticism as well. Even though there is a lot to be excited about with the new version, they may have done too much work that leaves customers feeling a little confused trying to navigate throughout all the new features.
“I am very worried that Microsoft may be about to shoot itself in the foot spectacularly,” Michael Mace, CEO of Cera Technology, former Apple employee said in a statement.
Despite criticism you will find Windows 8 in vertically all aspect of technology, it will be installed in nearly every PC to costumers, as well as the feature software on tablets and phones.
I think the immediate thing people will notice about the new windows is the brightly colorful tiles that display various different sections for users to brows through. You have your weather, sports, photos, and social media apps within these tiles, and each of them display a picture that helps users identify between each tile. Even though that sounds easy enough to navigate through each section, some users have used the preview version of windows 8 and voiced their opinion on the new software.
“On a desktop, it just felt really weird, it feels like it’s a tablet operating system that Microsoft managed to twist onto a desktop,” Long time windows user Raluca Budiu said.
“After a bit of a learning curve and playing around with it a bit more, I surprisingly got used to it, ,” Sheldon Skaggs, Web Designer said.
I actually have used the preview version of Windows 8 for about two months now, and it seems pretty easy to get around now. I will admit at first it was a little tricky because there was just so much sections, and different ways to get around. However if you are a tech savvy person then it should take you to long to figure the new software out.
