The Nintendo Wii has arguably been one of the company’s most successful gaming systems in its history gaining tons of fans and popularity seemingly every year. Now in a world were technology has advance tremendously the Nintendo Wii has given the world a unique, exciting, and interactive way to play games, and even do workouts. It has been so successful that even the two big name gaming consoles Xbox and PlayStation have sort of modeled the Wii use of body movements with the Xbox coming out with the Xbox Kinect, and PlayStation releasing the PlayStation move.
Xbox and PlayStation are by far the most popular gaming systems in the world, because both Microsoft and Sony continue to produce new versions of its systems every few years, it’s now Nintendo turn to add onto what the Wii has started. Producers and designers at Sony have come up with their newest console called the Nintendo Wii U. The company released details about the system on September, 13, 2012 at a special press event in New York City.
The company has set a November 18 date for the release of their newest console; they also mentioned that individuals may purchase two different versions of the console. People may purchase the basic Wii U for $299 which will include a single Gamepad, sensor bar, and 8GB of onboard storage. For a little more money people may go deluxe for $349 which include the exact same features but will also give you a charging stand, something called the Nintendo Land game disc, and 32GB of storage according to CNET.
“I believe this gaming console is a really strong value, and it’s a value that’s going to be strong for a long time.” The company’s chief operating officer Reggie Fils-Aime said in a statement.
Even though the company’s chief operating officer believes it will be a strong value now, and in the future as well the one thing that may be keeping Nintendo in third place in gaming systems is online ability. The Xbox has Xbox live and PlayStation has their own online network but the Wii does not, however the Wii U will have an interesting thing called the Nintendo TVii which will allow users to stream video content from Hulu, Amazon and Netflix to their TV sets according to PCWORLD.
“It’s still too early to guarantee exactly which games will be available for the public, but I can assure you that this launch library will be the strongest for any Nintendo home platform in our history.” Fils-Aime said.
Nintendo may have been thinking pretty smart with the release date in mid- November, as they hope it will become a hot item during the holiday season. Do you think this system will be a successful one? Would you buy it?
