Sons of Anarchy Season 5 Premiere

Season 5 of FX’s favorite gritty biker show, Sons of Anarchy, will premiere on September 11, 2012.

In the completed fourth season, SAMCRO became coke mules for a Mexican carte after Clay (Ron Perlman) barely won a club vote, and made the deal with the Gallindos. The club’s VP, Jax (Charlie Hunnman) wants to land one big score so he can take off with his old lady, Tara (Maggie Siff), and his two toddler sons, but after several frightening encounters with the Mexican cartel he gets cold feet and wants out of the deal.

Meanwhile the club is being investigated by the Feds, and the new Charming sheriff has it in for the outlaw biker gang. But the biggest drama is internal, circling around the secrets of Jax’s father, John, the founder of SAMCRO. Clay makes it his priority to get rid of anyone he thinks knows, including Opie’s dad, which is almost his undoing when Opie (Ryan Hurst) exacts revenge in episode 12 and shoots Clay.

Jax decides to keep Clay alive after undercover fed’s come forward and debrief him on the situation with the Irish and Mexican cartel. The season ends when he takes the Gavel, and becomes president of SAMCRO.

Diving into season 5, many new actors have been cast into the show.
Ashley Tisdale, known for her drama queen character Sharpay Evans in Disney’s ‘High School Musical’, has been brought on as Emma Jean, a high priced desirable escort who proceeds to complicate the already strained club. Joining Ashley will be guest starts Jimmy Smits (gang member Neron ‘Nero’ Padilla), real life biker-turned-actor Chuck Zito, and former ‘Lost’ star Harold Perrineau (as Damon Pope, an ex-drug kingpin who has sights set on SOA and its new president, Jax).

At the closeout of Comic-Con 2012, it was released that Kurt Sutter has joined the cast as well. According to further reports, comedian Joel McHale will be making a dramatic turn in the upcoming season. McHale will be playing a con-man named warren, who soon comes to find he’s picked the wrong side to winkle. Little is known about the character at the moment, other than he has been signed on for multiple episodes, and has been working closely with Katey Sagal (Gemma Teller Morrow).

Fan’s are ecstatic for the upcoming season, wondering what will happen now that Jax has accented to the top, and what punishment awaits Clay (Ron Perlman), for the many murderous and underhanded dealings he has committed against his fellow bikers.

Perlman had this to say about Clay’s state of mind in the new season:

“Clay only knows one way, and that is to be on top. He takes a back seat to no one. In season five, everything he has worked with the entire life has been taken from him. He’s wife-less, president-less, he’s lost the trust of his crew/family.”
