It’s called everything from a fad, a bunch of hype to something that is only for crazy health nuts. Some people even say it’s unhealthy for you and that you’re not getting enough meat, protein, vitamins and fiber. Juicing diets and juicing detoxes are certainly an item of controversy and most people either have an opinion or just plain haven’t paid attention to it.
I started getting really interested in the whole lifestyle of juicing about a year and half ago when I was researching The Gerson Therapy invented by Max Gerson a German physician who designed the process for cancer patients & diseases. There are tons of videos of people supporting those methods but my research led me much further into other studies, documentaries and research but I never bit the bullet. I never started juicing until I saw a movie that made me take the jump.
The movie was Fat Sick & Nearly Dead by Joe Cross who accomplished amazing weight loss, body transformations and a goal of traveling the world changing people’s lives. I will end up telling you more about the movie as I go on but you’ll have to watch the trailer which is included below so you can see what you’re up for if you haven’t seen it already.
I’m getting married in 50 days or, 1 month and 18 days and more specifically September 8th, 2012. My fiance and I made a decision to move our wedding date up from over 10 months on May 4th, 2013 to this new almost unattainable date. It was a crazy idea but we’re great with spontaneous things and my grandmother who isn’t in the best health will be sure to make it if she is doing okay then.
I face a dilemma with a wedding day coming up so fast and ready to change my life. I’m heavier than I used to be and not as healthy as I need to day for one of the biggest days of my life. In High School I used to weigh 130lbs – 140lbs. At 32 years old I’m weighing in at 164.4lbs and I’m missing those subtle abs I used to sport with so much invincible confidence. I lived in California next to the beach for 5 years and was sure I’d never lose a beach body. I did, and for a wedding it’s just not acceptable.
So for the second time around, I’m going to juice for weight loss, detoxing my body and finding a healthy mind again. I didn’t document the last time as well as I wanted so this will be a case study for everyone else that is curious about making a dramatic healthy decision.
I celebrated tonight with my fiance by going to Five Guys Burgers & Fries and got one of the biggest burgers they had so I could remember what an amazing American burger tasted like. It was wonderful and now I’m ready to take the plunge!
I made two juices from the Reboot Your Life plan of juicing recipes tonight with my Breville Juicer Model #BJE510XL. That was the model of juicer they used in the movie Fat Sick & Nearly Dead so I purchased it last year off of Amazon for a pretty good deal. I’m a sucker for reviews and really dug down in to make sure I was getting quality, I still love this juicer.

Now on top of enjoying that Five Guys tonight, I’m also enjoying my last alcholic drink before I start this leap. I’m having a nice cold Miller Light and I must tell you, I’ll miss it too. Please bare with me on these daily case studies as I’ll be planning a wedding, working a full-time job at the biggest advertising agency in Kansas City, running multiple businesses (like z6mag.com) and juicing to a healthy and new me. Either you’re with me or you’re not and I’m open to haters and lovers all alike.
Here we go…
