MLB All-Star Game Has 83rd Showing in Kansas City on July 10

This summer has been action packed with thrilling sporting events taking place all around the world, and several more highly anticipated events occurring later on this month. The NBA finals kicked off the spectacular summer we are having this year, the UERO Championship soccer tournament had thousands of spectators glued to the T.V. as viewers watched powerhouse Spain claim yet another major soccer title. With Wimbledon and the Tour de France in full swing now, its time for the MLB All-Star festivities to take center stage before the Summer’s biggest event the Olympics takes over.

MLB may arguably have one of the best All-Star games and supporting events in all of sports for fans to watch and get involved in. On July 10 MLB will have its 83rd All-Star game at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, but before the All-Star game there are a handful of must see events taking place at the stadium. On Sunday July 8 there will be a All-Star charity 5k run presented by Nike, followed by the compelling All-Star futures game kicking off at 5 pm. The always fun to watch and exciting All-Star Legends and Celebrity softball game will end a fun filled day with a start time of 8:30 pm.

The Legends and Celebrity game will feature notable Legends such as football standout Bo Jackson, and baseball greats Ozzie Smith, Rickey Henderson, and Dave Winfield including a slue of other outstanding players. On the Celebrity side the lineup includes Kansas University men’s head basketball coach Bill Self, Kansas City chiefs starting Quarter back Matt Cassel, and USA pitching Phenom Jennie Finch along with several other notable celebrities. On Monday July 9 the much anticipated All-Star home run derby takes place where the big bats of 8 MLB sluggers look to put on a show starting at 8 pm. There will be four participants from the National league; Miami Marlins Giancarlo Stanton, Colorado Rockies Carlos Gonzalez, St. Louis Cardinals Carlos Beltran, and Los Angles Dodgers Matt Kemp. For the American League the participants include; New York Yankee Robinson Cano, Toronto Blue Jays Jose Bautista, Detroit Tigers Prince Fielder. and Los Angles Angels Mark Trumbo.

This all leads up to anxiously awaited All-Star game, which has been more than just a pick up game in the previous years as the winning league gets home field advantage in the playoffs. For the American League the Texas rangers and New York Yankees have three players each in the starting lineup with the rangers having seven players total.
