Back in the day, you were one of the cool kids if you had a Blackberry with all its fancy apps. Then, Apple become kind with its multitude of app goodies. Since Apple’s reign on the top, Android has done the unfathomable by supplanting Apple as the undisputed heavyweight champion of the mobile world. Android has managed to accomplish this feat by offering a dazzling array of smartphones that are fully loaded with engaging apps at their users’ disposal. Android’s Google Play features a massive collection of over 450,000 apps that can satisfy the needs of any type of mobile user, from the soccer mom to even the hardcore gamer. Such popular mobile games as Angry Birds, Rage of Bahamut, Tap Fish and Defender II look spectacularly vivid and colorful on Android’s high-resolution smartphones.
Why this meteoric rise to the top, you may ask? Android has taken over the mobile world by storm because it is not as restrictive as Apple’s iPhone. While Android phones might not look as cool as iPhones to some, Android smartphones are versatile workhorses perfectly suited for hard-working multi-taskers. Commercial application developers have also increasingly turned to the Android since it offers valuable third party tools for development. Apple, on the hand, is very restrictive in terms of its offerings of platforms for app development.
