Animal Planet Mermaids Show Bodies Found That Create Nightmares [pictures & videos]

Animal Planet Mermaids

This Memorial Day Weekend Animal Planet revealed one of their installments of their first ever Monster Week which airs from May 21st, 2012 to May 28th, 2012. Mermaids: The Body Found started on Sunday May 27th from 9pm to 11pm ET/PT. The show airs again on Monday 28th, 2012 at 7pm – 8pm – 9pm EST/CST/PST.

Full Videos & Pictures of Mermaids Below

The Animal Planet mermaids are presented with a good dose of truth when two scientists are revealed in the show that claim they acquired physical remains of a mermaid that still hasn’t been explained. The scientific theories that are approached are how humans & primates could have similarities to mermaids in the ocean postulating that humans or primates themselves evolved out of the ocean. The theory in the Mermaid Body Found Documentary is called the aquatic ape theory.

Some potential items of interest from this theory are things that humans share with mermaids:

  • Webbing between fingers (other primates don’t have this)
  • Subcutaneous fat (insulating from cold water)
  • Control over breath (humans can hold breath up to 20 minutes, longer than any other terrestrial animal)
  • Loss of body hair (hair creates drag in water)
  • Instinctive ability to swim (human babies are able to do this)
  • A highly developed brain, which depends on nutrients provided by seafood

The Animal Planet Monster Week series dives into more facts and legend on why Mermaids could exist. Some tie ins relate back into old US Navy research studies doing sonar tests and potential mermaid call in the sea that was discovered by NOAA called, “The Bloop.” On the show you see interviews with people that claim they’ve found mermaids on the beach and have photos to prove it.

The show will be replayed on Monday 28th, 2012 from 7pm to 9pm ET/PT to close off the Monster Week extravaganza.

Stolen Footage of Mermaids In Tank At US Naval Facility

Stolen footage of a science lab shows a large tank with something alive inside… and it is not a fish. Tune in for the world premiere of Mermaids: The Body Found, Sunday, May 27, at 9PM E/P.

Amazing enough in the video above of the Mermaids in a large fish tank at a US Naval facility has the video end with a URL: Going to that website reveals the website has been seized by the DOJ and Homeland Security Investigations unit. The site looks like this:

Mermaids Website Seized by DOJ & Homeland Security

However, with further investigation and by looking at the Source Code of the website in question we can see this is more of a publicity stunt done by Discovery Channel and Animal Planet. The website’s tagging and descriptions on the source code reveal that is more for entertainment than an actual Department of Homeland Security or DOJ confiscation of a website. Things like the title, “Mermaids are Real Real Evidence from Dr. Paul Robertson, NOAA researcher” and the title of the main DOJ Image, “Mermaid Legends-Mermaid Sightings-water creature” and the alt text of the image, “Mermaid legend is true, and there is proof of real live mermaids” make you believe that this site was keyworded to go along with the Mermaid’s Body Found series on Animal Planet.

You can view an image of what the source code of the Believe in Mermaids website is below:

Believe in Mermaids Website Source Code

Just to clear up any mermaid conspiracy theories that the Homeland Department of Security, the DOJ and the US Navy are covering up real mermaids by shutting down a website that reveals the truth, we did some further digging. If the Source Code example above didn’t clear any doubt with you that the website is created by Discovery Channel and Animal Planet the Domain Registry or WHOIS registration of the website will clear that up. Below is an image of the information in the WHOIS of Believe in Mermaids dot com.

You can clearly see the domain was registered on October 12th, 2011 through Melbourne IT, LTD. The organisation owner name and address is:

Discovery Communications, LLC
One Discovery Place
Silver Spring, Maryland 20910

The DNS Servers read which shows the website is ran on Rackspace

Here is a Screenshot of the actual WHOIS for

Believe In Mermaids WHOIS

Now if we’re being up front here, if Discovery Communications was really trying to pull a fast one on you they could have made the site more real. It’s obviously all in fun to get you excited about their Mermaid Series and spread chatter about Mermaid conspiracies. Discovery could have easily registered the domain as a private registration and made the source code look more realistic with actual DOJ & Homeland Security information there.

So enough about the Animal Planet Mermaid Documentary, there is a ton of crazy information on mermaids hiding all over the Internet. We’re going to share with you some of the craziest mermaid pictures you’ve ever seen. Attached to some of these pictures are tales of conspiracy and mystery that have spread around the world all over about mermaids lurking below our seas. Most people run into these mermaid creatures when they wash up on the beach.

Below we are are sharing with you other popular mermaid pictures and videos that have been shared and made famous through bizarre stories. After each photo we’ll provide links to more of the photos for you to dive into more mermaid research to discover whether you believe mermaids are real or not. Behold – mermaid pics galore:

The Teluk Bahang, Penang Malaysia Mermaid Found On Beach

On the northewest part of Penang Island in Malaysia is a fishing village that is called Teluk Bahang. There is a popular dam in the area called Teluk Bahang Dam and close next door is a popular luxury resort called Mutiara Beach Resort. It was in the Teluk Bahang fishing village that on the coast in the beach brush a mermaid was photographed and numerous pictures were taken.

Teluk Bahang Mermaid On Back

A website built on Google’s site builder released many of the pictures in series. This story goes back to August of 2006 when the photos started getting circulated to news outlets. A Chinese Newspaper ended up getting the Department of Fisheries contacted and they asked for the photos for further investigation. It email that went to the Chinese Newspaper was titled in the subject line, “Teluk Bahang Fisherman Found This! Newspaper Not Allowed To Publish?”

Sad enough, this mermaid fantasy seems to have been debunked by an eBay listing. At they reveal that, “After searching through the internet, I found out that the pictures were actually from eBay. The seller in eBay claims that the creature was found in Fort Desoto Beach in Florida. The seller’s id is seamystery. The bid was closed on July 06. The circulation of the pictures in Malaysia only started in August. So this explains that the creature was never found in Teluk Bahang. However, the question still lies as in whether the creature is real or fake. The winning bidder is mysterymuseum. His feedback on eBay was “REAL GOLDEN Mermaid – A Million Dollar Attraction – MYSTERYMUSEUM.COM-A++++”” Thanks for busting that one Ana. Ebay has now pulled the auction since it was older than 90 days but if you keep looking you can find a lot of references to it. If you put the URL from the eBay auction into Google you’ll find all kinds of stories about this mystery mermaid, try this search.

Buried Mermaid Body Found

Chennai Mermaid / Tsunami Mermaid / Marina Wash Up Mermaid

This mermaid has been used and abused since 2003 in stories, email chains and many different hoaxes. It remains to be proven whether this mermaid was real or not but does a pretty good write-up on the source of the different stories of this mermaid.

The Chennai Mermaid Email Message Explaining the Photos:

A dead mermaid was washed onto a Chennai beach after the Dec 26 tsunami. True or false?

THE plight of desperate sailors must have been a terrible one. Legend has it that in the 17th and 18th centuries, seamen on long and treacherous voyages became so sex-starved that they started seeing beautiful half-human, half-fish creatures that beckoned amid the sea spray.

These mermaids or mermen – depending on their gender – were also documented by 17th century naturalists like Dutchman Georg Eberhard Rumphius in books like The Curiosity Cabinet Of Amboina.

Among his factual drawings of the flora and fauna of Indonesia – Rumphius’ pet region – was a comely mermaid who was said to have lived a few days in a tub of seawater, mewing like a kitten.

So, when a widely circulating e-mail titled ‘Mermaid Found in Marina Beach, Chennai’ arrived in LifeStyle’s inbox last week, we expected to see attached photos of a gorgeous, topless nymph – much like actress Daryl Hannah in the 1984 movie Splash – languishing on a sandy beach.

Instead, they showed a frightening, dessicated sea creature with a monkey-like head and fish-like body. Equally disturbing were its protruding ribs, scales, claws and very dry white hair.

‘Believe it or not,’ read the undated and unsigned text. ‘Below are pictures of a mermaid found at Marina Beach in Chennai, India, last Saturday. The body is preserved in the Egmore Museum under tight security.’

Ancient Egyptian Hieroglyphics of a Mermaid Next A Whale?

The Discovery Channel subsidiary Animal Planet has released some footage of potential cave drawings and paintings from Egypt that reveal mermaids swimming with whales or large ocean creatures. We can’t confirm whether these drawings are real or not but they look pretty interesting. The Egyptian cave drawings show a few mermaids sharing the waters with sea creatures in the deep. Does this show that even the ancients were sure that mermaids existed?

Video of Mermaid Body Found On The Beach Dried Out

YouTube has it’s own crazy conspiracy videos. One of these was uploaded on September 5th, 2012 by a user named: bhatsumanth. The video is titled, “the most disturbing and shocking video THE REAL MERMAID BODY FOUND!!!! PARANORMAL” This video features a walk on the beach with a mermaid laying over some branches and debris on the beach laying in an upward position with flowing red hair. The red hair seems to throw this mermaid off as a true fake. However the body is pretty interesting looking and there is a tail fin that is dried up and pointing in the air. The video has garnered nearly 42,000 views on YouTube.

Mermaids Explained – footage from a dive in The Great Barrier Reef

A man claiming to have taken a dive cage down in The Great Barrier Reef and noticed what he had seen once he started watching the film. The man believes this was footage of mermaids swimming around him which you can see pretty clearly especially after 2:30 seconds. Some debate about whether the Mermaid was bending her knees while swimming have swirled around to spread confusion.

Did Russian fishermen catch a Mermaid? Was it an alien?

Village residents from the Rostov region of Russia caught a weird creature two weeks ago after a strong storm in the Sea of Azov. The shark-looking creature was producing strange squeaky sounds. The fishermen originally believed that they had caught an alien and decided to film the monster with the help of a cell phone camera. The footage clearly shows the creatures’ head, body and long tail. The bizarre catch was weighing almost 100 kilograms, the Komsomolskaya Pravda reports. It was on it’s way to becoming a Russian Mermaid with an alien influence.

However, ufologists and scientists were greatly disappointed when they found out that the fishermen had eaten the monster. They said that they were not scared of the creature so they decided to use it as food. One of the men said that it was the most delicious dishes he had ever eaten.

Chairman of the Anomalous Phenomena Service, Andrei Gorodovoi, stated that the creature, which he could see on the short video, was an anomalous being. However, it could hardly be described as an extraterrestrial form of life, he added. Gorodovoi rejected the version about mermaids too. “There are many legends about mermaids living in the Sea of Azov. Nevertheless, specialists of the Service for Anomalous Phenomena have never confirmed those fairytales. On the other hand, we do not deny the possibility of other forms of life in the Sea of Azov,” the ufologist said.

A spokesman for the Rostov-based zoo, Alexander Lipkovich, contacted local ichthyologists and asked their opinion about the Azov alien. “They said that the fish bears resemblance to a sturgeon. It was an extremely interesting individual. I have never seen anything like this before in my whole life,” the specialist said.

Popular Comments on this video:
“Seriously that happens when you go tanning at the beach too many times!”
“I’d recommend less time in the microwave oven next time you cook seafood.”
“No creature has bone right behind their eyesockets, there would be no way for them to transmit information to the brain if their was(a.k.a. blind) and if it is blind there would be no reason for the development of eyesockets to begin with.”
“1. It’s a monkey torso sewn to a fish. Search PT Barnum or Feejee hoax. It’s an old fake.
2. Doesn’t go with any norms of evolution. It has hands to climb the trees or grab objects, and at the same time it needs to live in water. Total non-science”

SEA HUMANOIDS: Authentic proof or hoax???

WARNING: This video may be emotionally disturbing.
In normal conditions I would avoid to publish certain kind of movies, but I couldn’t leave this behind. Everybody knows that myths about sea humanoids, are very common in any part of the world, in any culture, varying in details about their physic structure. In most of cases the myths are about fish-like females aka mermaids, specially in open sea. However, in South American native cultures, there are many myths about dolphin-like male humanoids that live in the depth of Amazon river. It’s a very very spiky subject…

My curiosity about these creatures started after reading about an incident with Russian navy scuba divers in some lakes of Balkans: Mainly in Issik Kul and Baikal. In 1992, Mark Steynberg, a veteran of the Soviet war in Afghanistan and whistleblower, had claiming a team of elite scuba divers carried a secret mission in the Trans-Baikal and Siberian areas. They would have met a group of giant amphibian giant humanoids, wearing tight suits and funny helmets, but with no diving gear. They had membranes between the fingers.

It seems we have another intelligent humanoid species, living on Earth, besides mammal homo-sapiens, in different environments. This reminds me about the translations of Zecharia Sitchin, when he says that, according to Sumerians, the Anunnaki made several genetic experiments attempting to find the ideal intelligent human creature, to work in the mining. Just regarding they carried mining operations on the ground and underwater and possibly, they engineered many different species, besides apes, as amphibians, fishes, reptiles and other mammals.

After doing some researchers about water humanoids around the world, I found some stuffs from Japan. A very weird material based, supposedly leaked from Japanese government. I don’t know their origin, I can’t confirm if they are reliable, but some images you will see in this video, gave me some goosebumps. If you have some news about this material, plz bring it on.

Because a person has not seen something mythical with their own eyes doesn’t mean its not real. Have u explored the oceans. Have u been in waters long enough to see the unkown to man eyes. I bet not. Unless u have evidence that doesnt exist one need have open mind. History of people In the past have recorded sightings not all cultures communicate but yet mention same mythical being. Some things are best left alone. No matter how magnificent can be. Perhaps the government knows and thought this so huge of discovery maybe just maybe for thier protection, they kept silence. Many believe in god but yet never saw em, but still believe. No matter what documentary is exposed. Fake or Real. The true fact if it all, theres something in the water and not ready for us to see.

I thought some of the theories made a lot of sense, The aquadic ape theory definitely made sense and the fact that the sounds are real is crazy too. The videos however, I felt were fake.. I’m not sure what I should beleive. I think the documentary may have been a way to leak out the fact that the government is using a sonar weopon so that people like ourselves object to the cruelty to marine life.

wow that was cheezy poorly done special effects… if the scienctist for that body in a shark and were studing it unless they published a journal or something i doubt the government would have know all about it like they did because of they did they would have confiscated it sooner. and if you found a mermaid dont cha think you would have taken a pix and mailed to the usa, emailed it anything?? the guy who came to see it and the skull reconfigurer anyone someone would have had a pix.. really.. so fake its retarted…. and the drawings from the middle ages had a circle around the hand used for proportions if there was a hand to trace they would have traced it that circle wouldnt have been there. and the sea creatures that we are just finding now live in deep ocean miles down.. if the mermaid had a spleen with 20 mins max for air underwater they would have to surface to breath, yet so one saw them? shit dolphins and whales and seals surface to breath so we havepix of them why not the mermaids?

I was thinking along the same line. The Navy might not have been “testing” they could have been trying to catch something very elusive on purpose. I would think, that the Navy would know how much marine life would be effected by thier “test”. All I know is that none of this seems to be adding up.. Animal Planet should be ashamed of themselves and our Goverment definitely has thier fingerprints all over whatever is going on here. Wether it be Merepeople or something more alien…

This was the worst “documentary” I’ve ever seen. Within the first minute of it I could tell everything was fake… The “scientists” don’t even exist if you try to google them, and in the credits it says “similarities in names are purely coincidental” meaning they were just trying to make the people seem real. Also, one of the scientists is an actor from District 9…. How pathetic… and come on, those videos?? FAKEEEE… ugh I couldn’t even watch the whole thing cuz it was so horribily done. The “scientists” were horrible actors too, just the way they talked, you could tell they weren’t being sincere. Worst thing I’ve ever seen seriously. I do believe it is possible that there are mermaids/other unknown creatures under the sea, but if someone who does not have an open mind watches this documentary I think they’ll automatically dismiss that possibility because everything seemed so damn fake. Also the “bloop” thing was real, BUT it was only heard in 1997, and they didn’t hear it again after that year unlike the movie says. You guys need to grow some brains and research things before believing a stupid documentary… you don’t even NEED to research it actually.. it was so damn fake that if you believe it I feel sorry for you because you must be a gullible, uneducated idiot.

    May 29, 2012 at 7:57 pm

OK. No doubt the show was a fake. But saying that some other species of mammals has not or does not exist is insane. They are still discovering new species constantly, almost daily. What about the arsenic based life form recently discovered by NASA. Here’s a life form with a DNA base like no other life form in the world. Could this be from somewhere else? Being the planet has more water face than land, there has to be life forms we dont know about. Birds did not start out flying, we know that for a fact. There could be a mammal out there that has not completely lost its limbs. It’s just we’re it’s at on an evolutionary scale. No doubt, we’re the smartest on the plant, but there is other stuff out there. Some things don’t care if there found, others are hiding and they will take more time to find, but we’ll find them, and sooner or later others will find us, because we want to be found.

I really enjoyed watching the special on AP. Weather they are just giving their opinions or not it was interesting! I believe that the body they found in the shark and the sounds (the bloop) are all real. Especially about the human made swords/daggers made from bones etc. sticking in sharks or other big fish that could be a danger for them. I would just like to know if there are other people out there that have had sightings or how many people have found the swords in fish. If they do migrate with whales then I wonder if the Whale Wars people have seen them, or people that go on whale watching tours, or scientists that study whales have seen anything weird! I do think most if not all of these pics/videos are fakes but the first one with the one with the crazy teeth that one looks like it could be real. Look at some of the CRAZY looking fish they have found in the extreme depths of the ocean they have crazy looking teeth, bodies, heads etc. I dont know but I went from thinking mermaids were a total myth or legend to thinking that there is a good chance they exsist.

Weather they??? You mean whether they.
This show is ridiculously fake, and I think Animal Planet should be ashamed of themselves for showing garbage like this nonsense about creatures that don’t exist, except for the wild imagination of some very lonely fishermen.

  15. Jared

    May 29, 2012 at 1:35 pm

I find it interesting. Science has become such a bore, as of late. We are so wrapped up in our limited knowledge of this planet, that it has become impossible to open our minds anymore. As someone above stated, the science community thought the existence of giant squids was absurd. Well, turns out they do exist. I mean, do you honestly believe they discovered the deepest part of the ocean? Heck, no. There is so much about the human body we still can’t understand. I’m just saying, even if the existence of something of this nature is false, why can’t we still free our minds to a possibility of it?

  16. Polly

    May 29, 2012 at 12:47 pm

I found the show intriguing and thought-provoking, but the altered video from the boys’ phone ruined it – along with the precisely-timed pan of the camera back to the glass just before the “hand” surfaced.

At about 24 seconds into the supposed phone video, you can clearly see a hesitation and then the “camera” starts again. From this point on, the birds hover in the same spot while the “rest of the video” is apparently doctored up for effect.

I was trying to notice whether the boys’ clothing or haircuts were popular for the time frame this was “filmed”. All I noticed is that both of their tennis shoes looked brand new and not even the laces were dirty at all. I know my boys never keep their shoes that clean. As they “ran away”, the camera focus should have been a blur of the ground to his side as he swung his arms back and forth while running, rather than positioned straight over his shoes.

The fact that the boy nearest the “creature” didn’t jump back, scream or react really at all was so unrealistic. When the thing moved, the boy holding the camera moved – swinging the focus back and forth. If it were me holding the camera I’d be saying “LOOK OUT! Oh SH*T!” and probably lower the phone for a second (rather than to the side), move away and try to re-focus on the thing from a distance while moving further away if it seemed to be “mobile”.

The creatures’ head was probably about the exact size of a grown man’s head – when compared to the kid right next to it – why would a “sea ape” necessarily have almost exactly the same skull dimensions as a grown human male?

Anyway, I still find the possibilities interesting. With all the ancient drawings and stories from all over the globe, one is inclined to wonder. I have to admit, also, that it hadn’t occurred to me that the “seizure by the DOJ and Homeland Security” was faked for publicity. On second thought, IF the DOJ took a site down, they would probably NOT draw attention to that fact…it would just no longer “be there”…sort of like the evidence of aliens and Jimmy Hoffa.

In the first set of pics, that critter looks real but the “mermaid” looks nothin like wat it should….. The buck teeth? Big chompers are mainly used to bite stuff and brake it. But if the “mermaid” has hands why would need the buck dull lookin teeth. There not even pointed or sharp for tearing of meat. And the ear thingys, wat up with those? How many marine animals do you see have those. It just makes no sense. Oohh and I forgot that the eyes are open in one photo and closed in the others. (creepy if reel)

How and why would a giant humanoid live in the ocean? Why such a big creature? What does it eat? Whales?  How how would it stay hiddin if it eats whales (usooming that they do…)? It would have to migrate with them and be adapted for to do that..

The fish found in Russia looks like it feeds from above like a hammerhead but swims like a eel. Not to mention that it looks nothin like a humanoid at all. Humans have hands and arms. The way that it looks is weird to because it looks oily but it’s green so it probably lives in a green environment.

The hair on the “mermaids” makes no sense either…. Why would a creature of the sea have hair only on its head? (again asoomin that the creature is a marine mammal) the monky lookin thing is too extreme and carontede a fake. With the monky features and such. What the hell is goin on??

The comment bout the UFO thing is most likely off to because with the sonar that is being used would detect something like that. (it would most likely be something hard and thick to embrace the high pressure of the ocean.

The sound that they recorded is real, I don’t know about the rest of it but the sound itself is a real thing. Years ago I was reading an article about the greatest scientific finds, and I recall reading something about a vocalization that came from the deep ocean that was unlike anything ever heard before. It was louder, and more complex than anything in the history of the animal kingdom. At the time, my friend and I joked about Godzilla lol.

So the sound they recorded has been recorded only twice in human history, think what you like about the theories or the fake videos, but they had pieces of real science in here. Ive never been a mermaid lover, honestly I keep holding out for dragons, but if there is any place on earth that could contain something of that magnitude it would be the ocean.

I believe anything is possible though some things are less probable than others. I do think most of the evidence here looks fake b/c of basic design flaws. The fish tale of the first is sideways, the hair on another… I did watch the Animal Planet special which does have a lot of information I would like to more. I find it interesting that it did not mention another theory of the aquatic ape genre that gestational evidence suggests that humanoids evolved from the sea to land…not from sea to land and then back to sea like whales. In otherwords hhumanoid evolution began in the sea and then evolved onto land…keeping relic sea-dwelling chracteristics – and using the evidence advanced by the other theory but also that humans have gills and tails while in the womb, which is true. Oh well…if they do exhist I hope they stay hidden for their own sakes.

I am not going to dismiss the existence of mermaids because I do believe that there are several things we do not know about our own planet and haven’t seen. However, I will say that the videos that are posted on this website are fabricated. They are most definitely fake. The video of the two boys, you can clearly see that the birds in the background scatter in the first scene, and then once the video starts getting some static interference, the birds stay in one position just flapping their wings. Also, the boys do not scream once the creature awakens (which by the way looks CGI). The video of the mermaid in the fish tank, you can tell the camera man anticipated that hand hitting the glass, he moves back at the exact same time it does. The video of the fisherman that caught a mermaid in the net, you can see the movements of the net are a bit unnatural, and the fishermen didn’t have much of a shocking reaction. The pictures of the mermaid found on the beach after the tidal wave, well you have to study that anatomy of this creature. It has a dorsal fin on one side of its tail. Dorsal fins are on the back of fish in the middle, not side. Also, you can tell that in the middle of the tail, there are what looks like knees sticking out. This particular incident is fake, the “mermaid” is clearly a hoax, someone skinned a fish and stuffed the bottom half of this creature that they made inside of the tail. The picture of the mermaid on top of a car, you can see that the tail part of this mermaid is skinnier in comparison to the rib cage. Anatomically speaking, that would be incorrect and out of proportion. Once again, it looks like someone put two different pieces together. The video of the dried mermaid on the beach, that, as well is fake. If you look at the hair line when he moves the camera to her face, you can tell it is a wig. If that was real, the body along with the hair would be far more decayed than that. There would have been birds eating at it. Also, once again, it looks like this creature has knees which wouldn’t be possible because marine animals do not have that kind of bend in their tail. The video of the full body view of a mermaid, toward the hip area, notice that it has legs that they bonded together to make a tail, you can see the thigh bones sticking out the sides all the way down to the knees. The texture and color is not that same as the rest of the body. This looks like a regular skeleton that the hoaxer added features to in order to make it look like a mermaid. The video of sea humanoids is just plain dumb. All the videos that captured living mermaids, they always have a static interference with makes the credibility of the video unreliable. The sketchiness of it leads me to believe it was edited. Once again, I don’t dismiss the myth of mermaids, I just don’t agree with these videos and pictures. Always examine videos and pictures closely before believing in them.

Ok, so the boys’ video was obviously fake and made for tv. If u listened to the show, the Navy had to convince the boys what they saw was a badly decomposed seal when the boys kept sticking to their story. Why were the samples the scientists had confiscated by the government to then b destroyed because they were contaminated with human DNA? I truly believe our government would cover anything up they didn’t want the public to know about. They need to stop their sonar testing if its killing sea mammals. Scientists believed how many different species were extinct, only to find them still living in our oceans. They’re still finding new species all the time. What about the “bloop” that was heard and the spears already found in fish? I believe its plausible that mermaids could exist. Heaven help them if they’re ever discovered!

If you looked at the Guide/Show Description of the show on AP it clearly stated the genre as “Science Fiction”. ‘Nuff said.

      May 29, 2012 at 12:03 pm

Well yeah it said science fiction, everything we watch and hear is strictly monitored, its called censoring look it ;up. if you dont believe that there are other being similar to us in many ways then that only shows how simple we as humans still are early on i our own evolution, but do not chastise those of us who arent foolish or vain enough to think that “We” humans are the only intelligent forms of life on our planet or in our universe, let me guess you dont believe in Aliens either!! I totally Agree with Richard, Thanks so much for thinking the same exact way I did after I watched this Show. I too can’t believe that Animal Planet aired this Crap, you guys should be ashamed for leading people to believe that this was an Authentic Show. These people DO NOT have my sympathy. I was somewhat excited to watch this show, hoping to expand my education aside from the history and origin of the so called “Mermaid”. I have a very open mind and believe that every living creature (be it human, spider, or other), we are all living and have a soul, and all have just as much right to live and be treated fairly in this world. However after watching this crap, which at first, had my open mind AND full attention, ended up letting me down. Especially on it’s authenticity!

I feel as if I just waisted an hour of my time being lied to and fed B.S. on the whole mermaid theory. All the video footage is OBVIOUSLY fake, and all the so called “Dr’s.” just seem to stumble on their words throughout the whole show making it seem like these event’s actually happened to them and they endured so much. I beg to differ. The Whale Wars protectors risk their lives everyday for a good cause and I thank them.

However, These selfish people in “Mermaids” used people’s “Open-minds” as a way to push their own “Interpretation” as to what is really going on in the world and their own Opinion’s on Mermaids. From How the Mermaids raise their young and how they look, etc. It’s just someone’s “Idea” of what they think Mermaids look like and how they would live. Where is the real and actual proof? Other than some people’s random opinion’s and fake A$$ documentation….

Also, why have we not found ANY remnants of Mermaid carcasses by now? They may be one of the smartest creatures in the world, but that doesn’t mean that they are protected by life itself and natural disasters. We would have seen REAL evidence by now. Common sense here. I still hope and believe that Mermaids do exist. And I also believe that our Govt does go out of their way to Hide certain things from the public, but this Video is total B.S.

    Ijs… 🙂

so i noticed in the video of the boys finding the mermaid on the beach here that at the point where they are about to walk up and poke the mermaid in the upper left corner of the screen the birds stop moving the wings still flap and all but they stay in the same place and if you watch the end credits and look up the movie up on widepedia you will see that this is a mockumentary which is just made to open peoples mind to the aquatic ape theory when it comes to evolution it is a possiblility that mermaids could have possibly exsisted but there is not enough evidence to prove such im not saying im an expert or anything but i did want to be a mariene biologist and have taken an anthropology class so all in all the theory of aquatic ape is valid but the proof of actual mermaids lacks and many pictures toward the end of this page have been proven as fakes and as i am one of those people who is on the side of science i will believe it is a possiblility but until there is solid evidence and proof that these creatures exsist i must say no they do not

I noticed that too, the birds remaining in one position. I also noticed about that video that the boys did not scream when this thing reached up and grabbed him. That’s how I knew it was fake when I saw it on animal planet.

This is totally possible!!! You really have to keep a open mind when it comes to stuff like this. When you break it down and think about it we have only explored 5% of Earth’s water we know more about outer space then we do about our own oceans. For some people this could be very hard to believe but if you just open your mind to the possibility of something strange and unique actually “being” the thought of it wouldn’t seem so far fetch.

I can hardly believe that Animal Planet duped me so badly through the whole show until the last few minutes when the “clearly” fake video of the boys on the beach was shown. I had an open mind all along, until then. But take for examples how the old video phone had such great and easily operated zoom, and how when they boy was running away the phone was fixed so perfectly on his running feet! Who can run being so scared while holding a video phone perfectly on his running feet?! Think about odd it would look to see anyone run while moving only one arm in a running motion. 🙂 And I’m no video expert but when the mermaid raised up, it looked superimposed. Animal Planet should be ashamed!!!

You know what you serious have a good point. I never thought about the way the camera reacts. When I was watching the show I did notice really opportune camera shots that seemed to be perfect and would be hard to catch if you were running around bonkers after seeing a real mermaid. I’ve been in heart stopping situations and I couldn’t keep a focus on anything important, including my feet while running.

I thought the kid’s video was fake also. What kid doesn’t yell or make some sort of sound when he finds a bunch of dead animals (whales). And if he finds some sort of strange dead thing start asking his friend questions like “What is it….or ewwww gross”. The video was too quiet. It reminded me of the Area 51 autopsy on the alien film. Interesting theory and very entertaining, but doubtful.

If they are real and ever existed and are related to humans, I think logic would lead me to believe they would breath air (being man-like) and would need a blowhole on the top back of the head which would lead me to believe there would be no nose on the front of the face. Just sayin..

When amazing things have been learned about our planet Earth and ALL that dwells within it was more than likely not based on logical thinking. With logic humans find explainable reasons for what they see. With an open mind many creatures have been found to really exist. I am sure medical miracles would not exist. If you believe in God then ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE. Who is to say if complicated humans have been created then so could any species exist. Just sayin 🙂

Aquatic ape theory is interesting but I doubt if there is such a creature. If so, it would have long been discovered. The show was a lovely fairytale.

I still wonder why dolphins and whales do not harm humans.

They don’t need to. We aren’t a food source. But they have every right to harm us given how horrific we treat them. Maybe they are just more spiritually evolved than humans.

Only saw bits and parts of the show. It sure adds some interesting thoughts. For thousands of years sailors claimed giant squid attacked ships. But, experts claimed everything from myth to mass hysteria. Bottom line, there was no way they could exist. Recently, giant squid were discovered, validated and found to exist in huge quantities. If you claimed to think they existed not that many generations ago, you might be put away.
O.K. so mermaids are not like the Disney version. Will Animal Planet spark an interest in some discovery? How about AP create a drop box for people to submit sightings, photos and other information?

This is the most absurd notion ever aired on our airwaves. It doesn’t make even believable fiction, much less fact. Who wasted the $$$ to put this scam together! Anyone who believes any iota of this to be based on truth is gullible to the point of absurdity… THINK, PEOPLE!

    • Silver T. Rader

      May 31, 2012 at 11:11 pm

That is exactly what learned, thinking men said about giant squid! That it was a scam or insanity. Same with the old fish that went away a billion years ago. The Komodo Dragon was a pure scam, could not have existed. All life came from the sun, until the underwater vents were found with life.
While the AP was not absolute proof for many, it does bring up that the ocean is one really large and wonderful place.

‘Avengers: Endgame’ Is Now The Highest-Grossing Film Of All Time

Avengers: Endgame is officially the highest-grossing film to date. The Disney film has earned $2.79 billion worldwide, beating the long-standing record holder: Avatar.

The feat of beating James Cameron’s Avatar is not a small one. The iconic film, which was released in 2009, held the title for ten years before Avengers: Endgame surpassed it.

Furthermore, the superhero-filled movie was able to reach its $2.79 billion in 87 days. Last June, Avengers: Endgame was re-released with a tribute to Stan Lee, the famous comic book writer who created most of the superheroes on the film.

Avatar was in the theaters for 234 days. In 2019, Cameron has confirmed filming for Avatar’s sequels is underway.

The re-released in June was meant to bring back fans into the theater and see the film once again. It has been a driving factor for the film’s success in the global box office.

On Sunday, Disney officially announced the film’s success. This announcement comes after the San Diego Comic-Con 2019, where Marvel and Disney revealed the Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Alan Horn, co-chairman and chief creative officer of The Walt Disney Studios, wrote in a statement, “A huge congratulations to the Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Studios teams, and thank you to the fans around the world who lifted Avengers: Endgame to these historic heights.”

Starting next year, Disney will be releasing superhero content until 2021. The first film scheduled to release is Black Widow. The long-awaited stand-alone movie of the Russian spy-turned-S.H.I.E.L.D. agent will be in theaters on May 21, 2020. The movie stars Scarlett Johansson, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle, and Rachel Weisz.

Other movies set to be released The Falcon and Winter Soldier, The Eternals, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Thor 4: Love and Thunder and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Disney is also releasing MCU TV series such as WandaVision and Loki. Both will be released in Disney’s Disney Plus, the company’s streaming service to be launched on November 12, 2019.

Disney is the Biggest Winner

In 2009, Disney acquired Marvel Studios for $4 billion. The offer came after the success of the first Marvel movie, Iron Man. The stand-alone film about the eccentric billionaire who made himself as one of the top superheroes of the century earned $600 million worldwide.

Before Marvel CEO Bob Iger accepted Disney’s acquisition offer, Paramount Pictures and Universal Pictures have been in working with the company for its numerous films. Paramount Pictures was the distribution company for Iron Man and its sequels. Marvel also worked on Hulk and The Incredible Hulk in 2003 and 2008, respectively.

After acquiring Marvel, Disney produced The Iron Man 3 that earned $409 million. Since then, Disney has consistently produced box-office hits such as Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Avengers, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Since Iron Man 3, Disney has earned more than $18.2 billion.

Disney also had good partnerships, such as one with Sony for the production of the recent Spider-man films. Spider-man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far from Home earned $334 million and $320 million in domestic sales, respectively. The Sony-Disney partnership also made Spider-Man’s appearance on the MCU films.

Aside from the profits from films, Disney also rakes in money from merchandising. MCU’s characters have become infamous with merchandise ranging from clothing to toys.

What’s New for Disney?

Disney is continuing with its expansion. Earlier this year, the multimedia giant has acquired film and TV assets from 21st Century Fox. The deal amounted to $71.3 billion.

With this acquisition, Disney now owns films like Titanic, Deadpool, and Fantastic 4. TV Series like Simpsons and How I Met Your Mother is now part of Disney’s repertoire.

Fans are excited how many Fox-owned Marvel superheroes will join Disney’s MCU.

Before Fox, Disney has since worked on building its company assets and portfolio. In 2006, Disney bought Pixar for $7.4 billion. The merger has brought on films like Wall-E, Inside Out, and Coco.

In 2009, Disney also bought Hulu, the streaming giant. During that time, Disney only had 30% of the shares. After the merger with Fox, its shares rose to 60%. That same year was when Disney bought Marvel Entertainment.

In 2012, fans were both happy and worried when Disney bought Lucasfilm for $4.06 billion. It turned into a great deal when the re-birth of the Star Wars series with The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker.

More Female Superheroes In MCU Phase 4 Lineup

Source: MTV

Marvel Studio’s president, Kevin Feige opened the Pandora’s Box at the San Diego Comic-Con earlier today with a barrage of details regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe after its recently wrapped-up Phase 3.

During its panel, Feige talked about all of the movies and series that the studio is planning to make in the next couple of years. In a nutshell, he announced a staggering total of ten films, which Marvel fans have been crooning about on Twitter.

Without a doubt, the MCU helped shape pop culture with its widely popular movies from the past decade. However, a relatively vast majority of its superhero ensemble featured mainly male characters. Fortunately, as one door closes, another one opens, and it’s welcoming more female superheroes into the mix.

Not that the MCU is a sexist and misogynistic production house, but most of the cornerstone heroes featured in the big screen have been the likes of Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor. Furthermore, they’re the only characters from the Original Six Avengers heroes that had the opportunity not only to receive one but three stand-alone films each.

Notably, Marvel Studio has taken into account the lack of female influence when it comes to saving the world from aliens, destruction, or a giant purple alien attempting (attempted) to wipe out half of the whole population in the universe.

It has long introduced Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff among the Original Six but being the only woman in the group surely can’t be enough. So, in Avengers 2: Age of Ultron, Wanda Maximoff or Scarlet Witch (played by Elizbeth Olsen) became an integral member of the Avengers.

Towards the end of the Infinity War saga, the MCU debuted its newest hero: Captain Marvel (played by Brie Larson), which has shaped to become one of the studio’s cornerstone heroes in the upcoming Phase 4 in 2020. Furthermore, the studio cannot make her any more prominent as the comics itself tell that she is the strongest superhero in the Marvel Universe.

Pushing forward, now that Phase 3 has officially closed its chapter through Spider-Man: Far From Home, which is a telling story of what happened after the events of Avengers: Endgame. The MCU is ready to put the Phase 4 wheels, which was already in motion, in full throttle.

Among Feige’s announcements, three particular movies are about to set the tone for women representation in the MCU even louder. First, which is the most obvious, Captain Marvel will have its second stand-alone movie in Phase 4.

However, Feige only brushed on the topic and did not provide any clear indication of how the story will play out or when it will be released, nonetheless it is to be expected.

Captain Marvel proved to be a bigger-than-expected hit at the box office as it grossed $1.1 billion globally. It served as Marvel’s first-ever solo female superhero movie. Critically, the film holds a decent 78 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes

Other than being the first woman featured in an MCU movie, Larson has been advocating and pushing the Studio to venture farther and introduce a superhero belonging from the LGBT community.

“It wasn’t enough for me to just look strong on a poster; it needed to extend further than that,” she told Variety.

Marvel producer Victoria Alonso added that the “world is ready” for a gay superhero. “I’m so passionate about this,” she told Variety. “Our entire success is based on people that are incredibly different. Why wouldn’t we? Why would we only want to be recognized by only one type of person? Our audience is global, is diverse, is inclusive. If we don’t do it that way for them, we will fail.”

According to Alonso, The Eternals—coming to theaters next year—will feature a queer lead.

The second movie that Feige mentioned during the studio’s SDCC panel was the confirmation of the Black Widow movie, an origin story to Natasha Romanoff and her past.

Although Romanoff’s character has been present since the early years of the Avengers storyline, took her ten years and eventual death in Endgame, at least she is finally getting the stand-alone film that she deserves.

The plot will revolve around Romanoff being trained as an assassin by the Russian KGB since childhood and how she ended up becoming an agent of SHIELD and an Avenger. It will also deal with Nat’s secretes, will help her understand her past, and put all the pieces of herself back together

Other cast members include O-T Fagbenle, Golden Globe nominee David Harbour, Florence Pugh, Ray Winstone, and Oscar winner Rachel Weisz.

Black Widow opens the MCU Phase 4 in theaters on May 1, 2020.

Finally, one of the most surprising and exciting twist to the MCU is the announcement that Natalie Portman will return to the Thor franchise with Thor: Love and Thunder.

However, this time around, Portman’s Jane Foster won’t be a love interest for the God of Thunder but will get the chance of picking up Mjölnir itself.

In other words, Portman’s the newest addition to the list of mighty heroes deserving enough to wield the weapon-—following after Steve Rogers/Captain America who used it against Thanos in Endgame.

The announcement was made in a quirky way as Portman joined Feige on the stage with Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, and director Taika Waititi. Waititi even kneeled and offered the Mjölnir to her as some honorary rite.

Her super new role in the fourth Thor film is based on Jason Aaron’s comic book run that saw Jane Foster ultimately becoming the Mighty Lady Thor when Thor Odinson finds himself unworthy of picking up Mjölnir.

New Superheroes Making Their Debut To The MCU

There will be four new franchises added to the MCU as it ventures to Phase 4

Today, at the San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Marvel Studios revealed the upcoming movies in its latest lineup — including the next chapter of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where they will be introducing new superheroes to the franchise.

In recent years, Marvel has introduced characters like the Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, and Ant-Man while Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and Captain Marvel, will serve as the cornerstones of the franchise. All of these characters received praise and admiration from the MCU’s long-time fans and will undoubtedly be present in Phase 4.

The Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige, told attendees during the SDCC that he is “not done with the current line of superheroes in the MCU and will be introducing more in the following years.”

One of the most significant announcements was Marvel Studios’ The Eternals, but Feige did not venture into detailing the specifics of how the movie will pan out in the theater just yet. It does, however, follow the MCU’s plans on taking the entire franchise to a more “cosmic” level.

Notably, The Eternals is a creation of Jack Kirby, which is about a race of nearly immortal human beings who are continually the “Deviants.” Both are creations of “The Celestials” after biological experimentations with humans.

Where most Eternals have chosen to follow the path of peace, the Deviants are hateful and warlike. The Eternals have human-like features, unlike the spiteful Deviants. They will battle each other across the universe, usually at the expense of human life.

The Eternals will be starring Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, and Don Lee as Gilgamesh.

Significantly, Angelina Jolie will be playing a not-so-major character called Thena. It was first reported that the oscar-winning actress was in talks about making her debut in the MCU last March.

We noted that Jolie would be opting for a lesse-demanding role due to the existing projects she has, such as directing and producing her films.

Furthermore, the movie will be directed by Chloe Zhao, the “supposed-to-be” director of the origin story of Black Widow. The projects are also said to follow the script written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo.

The Eternals will come to theaters on November 6, 2020.

Another superhero making his MCU debut is Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi that will be played by Simu Liu. Appearing alongside Liu will be Awkwafina in an undisclosed role, and Tony Leung will play the villain taking part as the (real) Mandarin.

Shang-Chi, also known as the Master of Kung Fu, will be Marvel Studio’s first lead Asian superhero.

Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who worked with Captain Marvel herself Brie Larson on The Glass Castle.

In theaters February 12, 2021.

Feige also introduced Mahershala Ali as Blade and will also be making his debut on the big screen, but a release date has yet to be announced.

The two-time Academy Award-winning actor will be replacing Wesley Snipes who played the martial artist Daywalker three times, in 1998’s Blade (the first successful Marvel Comics film), 2002’s Blade II and 2004’s Blade Trinity. Rapper Sticky Fingaz replaced him for Spike’s Blade TV series, which only lasted one season in 2006.

The Blade Trilogy from New Line Cinema helped shepherd comic books and superheroes to the big screen. Combined, the three films brought in over $400 million at the global box office, ComingSoon reports.

Blade was created by writer Marv Wolfman and artist Gene Colan as a supporting character in the comic book “The Tomb of Dracula” #10 in July of 1973.

During the SDCC panel, Feige teased that he did not have enough time to talk about the upcoming Fantastic Four movie that is reportedly meant to merge with the storyline of the mutants.

Although they are not completely new superheroes, the news is relatively new since Disney’s successful acquisition of Fox that previously held the rights over the Fantastic Four and X-Men franchise.

Related: How Marvel Plans To Converge Mutants Into Its Timeline

“Not until we’re given the word,” Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige explained last year of plans with the Fox characters. “I have vague dreams and vague ideas. But right now, bringing to life the 10,000-plus characters that Marvel fully controls is what the gameplan is.”

In other words, we won’t be seeing any of the Marvel Studio-helmed Fantastic Four or X-Men movies for quite a while, but they should be in the near future.
