World’s Shortest Man, Chandra Bahadur Dangi Travels the World

World's Shortest Man Chandra Bahadur Dangi

The World’s shortest man, Chandra Bahadur Dangi, 72-years old, from Nepal is 21.5 inches or 54.60 centimeters tall. After being declared the shortest man in the world by the Guinness World Record, he is living out his dream to travel the world.

On February 26, 2012, Chandra Bahadur Dangi was awarded with two certificates. First one for being the world’s shortest living man and another for the world’s shortest person ever as recorded in Guinness’ 57-year history. Dangi says, “Before I had nothing to do, now life is more interesting.”

Dangi comes from a poor and uneducated family in the remote district of Dang, 217 miles (350 kilometers) from Kathmandu and was unaware of the world record title before a timber merchant visited his remote village and decided to measure him. His family has no idea when he stopped growing as many Nepali villages still lack basic health care, reported Todays THV.

The world’s shortest man will be carried by his nephew Dolak Dangi, who carries him around in a backpack.

So far, the world’s shortest man has travelled to Australia and has visited the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House and Aboriginal sites and after a radio appearance on Nova FM he will head to Bondi Beach and Sydney Wildlife Park as part of the whistlestop tour.

Chandra Bahadur Dangi told reporters in Sydney, Australia that he was excited by the opportunities the award of world’s shorest man has offered. “I am happy my name has been written in the book and also because of that I have got to travel. I was in Italy two or three weeks ago, now I am in Sydney, and I might go to Cuba next. I get to travel and that is very interesting for me,” he said.

Where else would the world’s shortest man like visit? Mt Everest is now on his to-do list. “I’d love to see it, I’ve never been there,” Chandra Bahadur Dangi said through a translator in Sydney.
