NASCAR Qualifying Results

The crowds have been piling in to Kansas City to see all the high profile racers try and qualify for the pole position in the race. The race will start tomorrow and be the second STP 400 which was started in 2011 and is currently sponsored by the Sprint Cup Series.

The pole position for the NASCAR STP 400 race tomorrow, April 22nd, 2012 was taken by AJ Allmendinger. For Allmendinger this is a big deal as it’s his second pole position in a total of 159 races in his career.

Allmendinger was interviewed by SPEED after his lap and said, “Obviously Sunday is the important day, but more than anything, we’re just trying to build momentum. Hopefully we’ll have a good 400 miles tomorrow.”

One thing this does reveal is that the decision by Roger Penske and Tim Cindric to hire AJ Allmendinger was a good bet. Those guys may have received some kickback from fans and questions from people that study NASCAR pros but so far this is panning out to be a great choice. AJ was hired to drive the Number 22 Dodge for this year’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Allmendinger is 30 years old and from Los Gatos, California.
