If you live in a metro area with a city that has at least 50,000 in population there is one thing on popular streets & events you have probably seen, a food truck. Another big food truck trend that has helped the industry grow quickly is social media involvement. With social media marketing food trucks have been able to build a list of customers & alert them to their locations.

The food truck trend has gotten so sophisticated that their are mobile apps on iPhone & Android as well as dedicated websites built for tracking food trucks in specific areas. A popular food truck trucker is based around the metro area of Washington D.C. It’s real-time and automated and has a Food Truck App for Android & iPhone. The website is Food Truck Fiesta and allows you to find all kinds of goodies. A more generalized app that services more locations is called Food Truck Tracker and is available in the iTunes store.

With all this food truck action going on, Chick-fil-A has decided to put their brand name behind a food truck roaming the Washington DC area. NBC News reports, “the Chick-Fil-A food truck will be on the streets beginning April 9, dispensing the chain’s famous chicken sandwiches and waffle fries to all within walking (or running) distance.”

Before we know it, all fast food locations are going to be going mobile touting their new tasty foods to the groups that want it the most. A merging of delivery, mobile and popular foods seems to be heading our way. Chick-fil-A has not released any plans to release their food trucks in other metro locations.
