IHOP is giving away free pancakes today from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. for national pancake day. IHOP free pancake day is part of their annual fundraiser to support the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
IHOP’s all around will be offering free short stack pancakes all day today, February 28, 2012. In return, of free IHOP pancakes, they ask you make a voluntary donation before leaving. IHOP giving away free pancakes leads to their biggest profitable days of the year. The reason being it’s the most profitable day is because when people come in for the free pancakes, they end up ordering something else to go with their free IHOP pancakes.
Patrick Lenow, a spokesman for DineEquity, the corporate arm of IHOP told the Christian Science Monitor, “Depending on the restaurant, it’s double or triple the typical day’s business.”
Not only is it their most profitable day, it is also their busiest days too. Even though they are giving away free pancakes between 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. make sure you plan to wait to be seated.
If you are worried that most people just come in for free pancakes at IHOP and don’t make a donation, think again. Most do come in for the free IHOP pancake stack, but make a donation as well. The plus side to making a donation of $5 for a Miracle Balloon you will receive a coupon that’s good for $5 off a $20 purchase of your next visit to IHOP.
Last year, IHOP served four million free pancakes and raised more than $2.5 million in donations. Since starting the National Pancake Day in 2006, IHOP has given away 14 million free pancakes and has raised more than $8 million for local charities. IHOP has set a goal of $2.7 million to raise in 2012, to bring the total funds raised to more than $10 million.
National Pancake Day, which was first celebrated six years ago and has grown so popular that even celebrities are getting their free pancakes from IHOP. Twitter has begun to catch the flurry of IHOP free pancakes today. You’ll see it trending with “Happy National Pancake Day” or just people talking about “IHOP.”
