Each cast memeber from Dancing With the Stars had something to say what they think about being on the show.

The Family Matters star, Jaleel White said, “Even if dancing is a new skill, time spent in the public eye will be useful. I’m a performer, first and foremost. That’s what I was raised to do. If you put a crowd in front of me, I don’t want to see that crowd disappointed. I’m there to give them a good time.”

Platinum selling musician, Gavin DeGraw said, “Growing up, I would hear these stories about my great-grandfather as a dance instructor. For someone my age, growing up seeing Dirty Dancing as a kid, I created this fantasy world. This is a way for me of really satisfying that curiosity.” He added that it could even help his professional skills too. “Only really recently have I been embracing the element of stepping away from the piano, stepping out in front of the audience” during concerts. I think this type of thing will make me a lot more comfortable being able to do that.”

Tennis pro, Martina Navratilova says she wants to conquer her embarrassment of dancing. “I like to conquer my phobia. I was afraid of heights. I got a pilot’s license. My biggest fear was to drown, so I got a SCUBA-diving license. I get embarrassed dancing by myself, so I figured why not do it in front of millions of people.” Being an athlete she hopes will help her in the competition. “Staying focused on something physical for such a long time is easy for us and it does involve your body. And I think if you excel in one sport, it’s easy to pick up the movements in another.”

Co-host of the View, Sherri Shepherd says she’s doing this for her son. “I’m doing this to let my son know not to let anybody tell you you can’t do what you want to do.” Once she started training, she has realized it won’t be easy. “My partner is telling me to use things I don’t have. He keeps saying, ‘Tighten your abs!’ What abs? If you find them, can you please put them in the mail and send them to me, because I never had abs.”

Dancing With the Stars will have to really put on a show to compete with Monday nights line up on NBC with “The Voice” and “Smash.”
