A woolly mammoth has been spotted. Or at least is in question that it really is a woolly mammoth. An animal that has been extinct for thousands of years is raising some questions after being filmed in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug region of Siberia.
The woolly mammoth on video was crossing through a river in Siberia. This creature was reportedly seen and filmed by a government official surveying the land for a new road last summer.
Paranormal enthusiast Michael Cohen said in a statement to The Sun, “Rumours of a handful of mammoths still kicking around in the vast wilderness of Siberia have been circulating for decades and occasionally sightings by locals have occurred. Siberia is an enormous territory and much of it remains completely unexplored and untouched by humans. It is highly possible that a number of species, extinct elsewhere, survive in the area.” Michael Cohen added, “If surviving woolly mammoths were found in Siberia, it could run against Russia’s plans to further develop and exploit the area’s considerable resources. It would be potentially one of the greatest discoveries ever.”
The woolly mammoth video is hard to make sense of because it’s very blurry and short. If it really was or is a woolly mammoth one would think the person filming would have kept recording until the animal got to the other side of the river. Also, if it really is a woolly mammoth, why would a person keep it a secret for almost a year. Some viewers believe that the video was altered. Some believe it’s a bear with a fish, others think it might be an elephant.
Many viewers don’t believe it’s a woolly mammoth in the video:
“It’s a bear with a log or something sticking out of his mouth.”
“Probably fake. Had it been real wouldn’t have the cameraman tried to track it down and get a better view of it? It didn’t appear to be that far away.”
“Even with the blurry video it’s obviously a bear with a fish.”
Then again, some people believe that maybe woolly mammoths aren’t extinct and this is a true sighting of one:
“well it could be a baby mammoth?”
“It’s a woolly mammoth. Can’t you see it’s fuzzy?”
“I’m going to believe its a mammoth.”
“It could be a bear, or it could be a mammoth, but I don’t know, and nobody knows either, only the one who video tapped it would know. But that’s one weird looking bear if you ask me. For one, the bear’s head is hunched up, which is unusual when crossing a river. And secondly, the striding movement of the front legs is odd, unlike a bear. Or maybe it’s just the angle of the camera that made it look odd.”
Watch the video below and let us know in the comments what you think. Do you think it’s a hoax? Or do you believe that woolly mammoth are still out there and not extinct.
