Randy Travis, 52-years old, said he was drinking in celebration of the Super Bowl. He stated it, “resulted following an evening of celebrating the Super Bowl.”
The Police Department received a call about a suspicious vehicle near the Baptist Church. When Police officers arrived, they saw a black car and Randy Travis drinking a bottle of wine and smelling of alcohol. Randy Travis tried to get out of his car, but made a stumbling exit and that’s when the police officer decided to arrest him.
Randy Travis was arrest and taken to Denton County Jail around 1:30 a.m. and was booked. He was cited with charged with misdemeanor public intoxication.
The Denton County Jail officer that arrested Travis said that Randy Travis tried to explain to him that he just had a fight with his girlfriend. The police officer went on to explain, “Mr. Travis’ speech was slurred, and I was beginning to have a hard time understanding what he was saying. Mr. Travis was unaware of his location and kept asking me to take him home.”
Randy Travis released a statement through his publicist apologizing for his arrest saying he was sorry “for what resulted following an evening of celebrating the Super Bowl.” He then added, “I’m committed to being responsible and accountable, and apologize for my actions.”
Randy Travis tour starts Friday, February 10, 2012 in Grand Ronde, Oregon at the Spirit Mountain Casino. The tour will celebrate his 25 years in the country music business.
