It’s been announced that Angry Birds will be launched on Facebook from 6:00pm until 9:00pm on Tuesday February, 14th, 2012. Angry Birds Valentines DayYes, that is right on Valentines Day the Facebook Angry Birds App will be launching to all 800 million Facebook users.

You might just think there is no big deal because you’ve played all the different versions of Angry Birds, like seasons and special themes. The word on the street from the exclusive interview by Penn Olson however is that you’ll be able to access different features & enhanced graphics that are optimized for bigger screens. The animation is supposed to be better quality in the Facebook Angry Birds Application as well.

For the true addicts of Angry Birds gameplay, they can purchase what are called powerups on Facebook. In the exclusive interview, Peter Vesterbacka, the ‘Mighty Eagle’ of Rovio said, “Rovio will also introduce new power-ups (e.g. an earthquake; or special, bigger, or stronger birds) which you can buy (for US$0.99) or earn while playing the game.” It has been speculated by Rovio, the makers of the Angry Birds App, that around 40 percent of users are willing to by these powerups.

In addition to the new high tech features of the Facebook Angry Birds App users will also be able to keep track of their scores against their friends. The worldwide Angry Birds scoreboard on Facebook will lead to higher competition and fun with friends as you can brag about your high scores and extra stars that you earn. The high scores system is expected to roll out after everyone gets their feet wet with the new Angry Bird apps.

If you have your iPad at home and are playing Angry Birds you’ll be able to pick up where you left on your work computer. Samsung TVs will now beging adding Angry Birds as a default app on their plasmas and LCD flatscreen TVs. The new Smart TV feature will also integrate with this new seamless gaming experience allowing you to always pick up where you left off.

Either way, the next step for Angry Birds is the biggest Facebook launch event of the year.   1. Very cool! I wonder how Rovio will monetize this, since the game is a paid app – whether they will charge users or require users to sit through some ads. I think the social aspect, like sharing scores, is a great way to get users involved in the game.
