If you were lucky enought to be one of the people that had problems ordering Heinz Ketchup on Monday, then it’s free ketchup for you. Heinz was testing a new business method of selling their products direct to consumers before they were released in stores.
The Heinz beta didn’t go as expected as Facebook users experienced delays during a glitch of the system until about 9pm on the launch. To be completely honest, someone didn’t even have to try and order a bottle of Heinz Tomato Ketchup with Balsamic Vinegar. As long as you posted on the Heinz Facebook page when the order system wasn’t working you can rejoice in your new free ketchup.
What seems to be more interesting about this situation is that people in social media are actually purchasing condiments for their home. Instead of going to the grocery store they are ordering it online from brand pages hosted on Facebook. A spokesman from Heinz Ketchup said that at least a few thousand people ordered the limited edition ketchup from their Facebook page.
While Heinz is launching their limited edition ketchup through their Facebook fanpage they’ll also be selling the new line of ketchup in stores. In December the new ketchup with Balsamic Vinegar will be available on your local store shelves. If you can’t stand the wait and your mouth is watering for a new limited edition ketchup though, you can place your order now at the Heinz Ketchup Facebook page.
