Brad Pitt Announcement to Retire From Acting at 50 Years Old

Brad Pitt AnnouncementBrad Pitt, 47 years old, made the announcement to Australia’s 60 minutes that he plans to only act for three more years and then he plans to be retiring at the age of 50. Pitt says he would rather be behind the camera. He’s currently listed as a producer for the upcoming films “World War Z,” “Voyage of Time” and “The Normal Heart.”

Brad Pitt told reporters at a press conference promoting “Moneyball” in South Korea that he “wasn’t actually putting an exact deadline on my expiration date, but I see it coming. I just have other interests and I do quite enjoy the production side. Me, personally I like ageing. With age comes wisdom and I have said it before and I say it again, I will take wisdom over youth any day,” he reasoned. “I think certainly, being a father has changed everything for me as far as perspective and interest, taking care of myself and wanting to be around for them.”

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

Brad Pitt also added that he and Angelina Jolie may add to their family of six kids. When asked how big he wants his brood to be, Pitt said, “Uh, you know, I don’t know that we’re finished. I don’t know yet. I don’t know.” He says that he enjoys that hectic life of having children, aside from the fact that he lacks sleep. “I mean, because those late nights are so fun when one of them’s up or those mornings when they get up and make pancakes or something. That’s what it’s about.”

Brad Pitt also said that having a family with Angelina Jolie has changed his focus on his career a little bit and the kinds of films he wants to make. “If I’m choosing a film now, I want it to be maybe less immature than things I have done in the past,” he said. “I’m very conscious, when they’re adults I want it to mean something to them. I want them to think, ‘Dad’s alright’. It changes everything. Everything.”

He added, “I think happiness is overrated, truthfully. I do. I think sometimes you’re happy, sometimes you’re not. There’s too much pressure to be happy. Satisfied, at peace, those would be more goals for myself.”
