There was one diet that was spoken so highly of that they ranked it number one, the DASH Diet. US News experts feels this diet should become a diet household name. The main focus of this diet is to prevent and lower high blood pressure which is also called hypertension. One benefit about the DASH Diet is just about anyone can take part by grabbing the free PDF made by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. Those free DASH Diet guides will get you up and running.

The diet that US News ranked at #9 seemed to have the most success for people that actually did the diet. The Vegetarian Diet was rated was working for 17,596 people and not working for 1,237 people. That is the biggest difference and largest success we could see from all the diet taking data providing by actual dieters. Vegetarianism gets a bad rap for not being the healthiest way to lose weight but it has great nutrition and is a safe diet to be on. For people that are in love with meat though, this diet will be hard to keep up.

One of the big surprises to us as well was that the Paleo Diet got ranked so horribly. The Paleo Diet has been immensely popular in America and users have touted it’s success. When the real data is looked at though US News Best Diets reports that this diet didn’t work for 23,868 people and only worked for 5,570 people. The experts didn’t like this diet at all and said it failed for weight loss, easiness to carry out and also stated that most versions didn’t hold true to the Paleo diet plans or rules.

The TLC Diet seems to be a big winner ranking in at number three on the US News diet report. However user data says that it may not be working for the actual dieters. Dieters stated that the TLC Diet worked for them 63 times and 585 times it didn’t work. The diet stands for Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes and was created by the National Institutes of Health. Feel free to check out all the other diets and plans at the US News Diet Reports.

  1. If they had combined no. 18 & 20, making it a RAW PALEO DIET, this would have been no. ONE, as my new book Beyond Broccoli details.
The issue with the typical raw food diet is that vegan diets are deficient in the long run for most people. The typical Paleo diet consists of tooooooo much meat!
Combine the two, making it a high plant, high raw diet which includes some animal products as our ancestors ate (NOT overeating them as do typical Americans) and you have the winner!

  2. Reading this “study” based on “solid data” by “experts”…whoops, my quotes button just started smoking…is disgusting. It makes me want to throw up the four eggs I had for breakfast. I’m sure the experts have solid data to show that the Slim-Fast diet is far better than diets that are comprised of real food. To be honest, with some exceptions (Medifast, etc.), the list seems to be backwards. It sickens me to think that vegans and Ornish disciples would risk peoples lives in an effort to spread their misguided beliefs. Allow your own bodies to be ravaged by diseases if you wish, but don’t encourage others to do the same!

  3. This article is very misleading in that it makes it sound like >20,000 people who were surveyed that they had tried the Paleo Diet and reported that it didn’t work for them. A button on a webpage does not a scientific study make. It’s worth noting that when this report first came out, there were lots of people clicking the yes button. Seems to me that word got out amongst the veggie faithful that the paleo folk had started voting it up and so paleo got more yes votes (it was like 5000 yes to very few nos for a while) and got a bunch of folks to vote it down. You can’t tell me that over 20,000 people that randomly read that article had tried paleo and only a couple thousand Jenny Craig. Something fishy is happening here, or is it rotten durian fruit? You’ll note that the vegan and vegetarian diets got voted UP by about the same amount. Who knows how, but that’s the point. The survey is totally non scientific and the author of this article should note that, not make it sound like they did surveys and that’s why things got ranked the way they did.

The rankings came from professional nutritionists, who basically get funded by agribusiness. It’s no wonder that folks that make their money from the makers of cereals and soda would not like the Paleo diet, which steers you away from grains and processed foods.

I can only speak to my own experience, which has been remarkable on the paleo diet. I’ve lost 120 pounds, gained muscle mass and am SO much healthier. I’d suggest to folks that rather than take my advice, or the bad reporting in this article, that you do some research and give it a try for 30 days. If you don’t look, feel and perform better, then you will know for yourself whether this paleo stuff is as good as folks are saying or as bad as the conventional wisdom, agribusiness funded “experts” tell you.

  4. No surprise here, the powers that be continue to carry out their despicable behaviour at the expense of the people. Millions crying out for a solution to obesity and degenerative diseases that come with it and what do we get? a corrupt poll to shore up the propaganda. Who benefits? The food industry, the pharmaceutical industry, the sugar barons, Individual governments. Who loses? you!

Why? Well to rank a diet that actively promotes weight gain and disease by making carbohydrate from grain the major component is bad enough but to compound the issue by encouraging a high fructose intake in the form of fruit and to group fats with sweets is nothing short of incompetence. The foods and proportions recommended are so wrong it’s shameful malpractice by all associated parties.
Don’t be taken in by this irresponsible journalism and believe that because the government recommended it, it’s got to be right, if grain based low fat diets were working for sustainable weight loss and were working in the war against obesity why are we so fat? Find why out why it’s not, find out how we got in this mess and more importantly which really is the best diet. The diet that came last is factually the worlds healthiest diet. Why did it come bottom? No individual or company owns this diet so it’s difficult to corrupt, yes I did say corrupt as you will learn from the evidence on our site this is not a nice story. You see although a paleo/caveman/stoneage/primal (call it what you like) style diet is the worlds healthiest diet, it is at the same time extremely politically sensitive as if it were to become mainstream which is looking more and more likely, it has the power to threaten global security by de stabilising governments. This is the reason no government will ever back this, however this may well be their demise.

  5. I really surprised know the Dash Diet as #1 rank…
