Dr. Fuhrman Eat to Live Diet Plan on Dr. Oz Show 2012

Dr Fuhrman Diet

Dr. Joel Fuhrman appeared on the Dr. Oz show on September 18, 2012 talking about his new book called “Eat to Live.” Eat to Live is not a crash diet, but rather promises to use foods as medicine.

Dr Fuhrman says this should not be considered a diet at all, instead, be looked at as a proven plan for health and vitality. Unhealthful fad diets have misguided millions of overweight people, starving for a quick fix to lose weight. You may lose weight on these diets, but your health will pay a price in the long run.

He says that a salad should be our main dish, and that we should have plenty of “G-BOMBS” (foods like Greens, Beans, Onions, Mushrooms, Berries, and Seeds).

On the show, Dr Oz demonstrated what 400 calories of greens versus sweets looked like in a canister. 400 calories of sweets barely fills up the canister so we don’t feel full, while 400 calories of greens packs up the canisters. The canisters represent our stomachs, and the greens keep us feeling fuller, longer.Eat to Live

On the Dr. Oz show, Dr. Fuhrman’s gave the audience an Eat to Live diet plan recipe.

Mix 1/3 cup soy, almond or hemp milk, 1 apple, peeled and sliced, 1/2 cup raw cashews or 1/4 cup raw cashew butter, 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar and blend well in a blender.

So what is this Eat to Live diet plan book all about. According to Dr Fuhrman’s website, “Eat to Live is number 1 on the New York Times Best Seller list and instructs readers on how to leave behind the discomfort of toxic hunger, cravings, and addictions to unhealthy foods. You’ll find inspiring success stories from people who have used the program to lose dramatic amounts of weight and recover from chronic illnesses, up-to-date scientific research supporting the principles behind Dr. Fuhrman’s plan, and new recipes and meal ideas. This easy-to-follow, nutritionally sound diet can help anyone shed pounds quickly and keep them off.”

The key in losing weight and keeping it off is knowing your metabolism type, according to Dr. Oz. Eating the right foods for our metabolic type can help a person burn fat faster.

For Type A metabolic types, Dr. Oz prescribes a diet that’s 50% protein, 30% fats, and 20% carbohydrates. Dr. Oz, advises that Type A’s go after dark meat, not white meat. For Type B metabolic types, Dr. Oz prescribes a diet that’s 70% carbs, 20% proteins, and 10% fats. Finally, for Type C metabolic types, Dr. Oz says they’re the luckiest of the bunch as they get to have the greatest percentage of fats in their diets.
