Samsung Galaxy S4 vs HTC One: Both Set to Debut in the Next Two Weeks

Samsung Galaxy S4 vs HTC One

This year appears to be a very busy year for smart-phone company giants like, Apple, Samsung, Verizon and HTC. The Blackberry Z10 has already kicked off the line of new smart-phones ready to hit the world markets this year as they released their product last month with hopes of getting the Blackberry name back in the ranks of top phone companies. The much anticipated iPhone 5s will debut sometime this summer, but before the iPhone is release there are two android smart-phones that are sure to at least rival the mighty iPhone.

First there is the HTC One that is set to be released to the general public on April, 19. Let’s take a closer look at the specs of this smart-phone gadget, if you’re a fan of the large screen phones than the HTC One may be a good device for you.

The phone will boast a 4.7 inch LCD screen with stunning high resolution that is actually the same exact quality as the Samsung Galaxy S4. With the HTC One being so thin and sleek it gives the phone a “Sexy” look that will be sure to draw in fans, but the downside of the thin look is that it does not provide the phone any room for a microSD card slot that would allow you to add extra storage. However the phone will come in sizes of 32 and 64 GB of storage memory.

As far as the operating system goes, the HTC One will run on the Android Jelly bean version 4.1.2 with a nice touch of new designs and settings, however the new phone will be without the popular android BlinkFeed feature. The feature basically allowed users to combine news and social media updates all into a savvy style presentation design for your home screen.

Technology reviewers and critics believe the best part of the HTC One will be the new enhanced camera with several user friendly features. When you take photos or videos with the phone, the device will actually automatically create a highlight reel of your photos and or videos you shot recently according to CNET.

The price tag for the HTC One currently sits at $199 for the 32 GB and $299 for the 64 GB.

So now that you have read some of the specs from the HTC one, let’s take a look at what the Samsung Galaxy S4 has to offer. The Samsung Galaxy S3 was such a big success for the company that it actually put a little heat on the giant that is the iPhone, as a result fans of the GS series are excited to say the least for what the GS4 will bring to the market.

One of the more interesting features has to be the smart scroll and the smart pause. With smart scroll when you tilt the screen up or down while looking at it will scroll the pages up and down for you. Smart pause allows users that are watching videos to pause a video they are watching whenever their eyes look away from the screen, but then the video resumes when they start paying attention again according to ENGADGET.

The GS4 will follow the trend of big size phones as the new smart-phone will have a 5 inch HD screen, along with a 2-mega-pixel front facing camera and a 13-mega-pixel back camera. The camera is a top feature all by itself as it allows people to use the dual shot mode which takes photos and videos from both the front and back camera and combines them into one.

Something the GS4 and the HTC One have in common is, both devices have a camera feature which combines all action photos and puts it into a one shot frame.

As far as the operating system goes, the GS4 will function on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean which is the most up-to date android operating system in the market today, although the next android system (Key Lime Pie) is set to be released on May, 15.

Storage wise, the device will have a micro SD card slot that has the capability to hold up to 64 GB of external memory, along with 64 GB of internal memory, so you should be set storage wise.

One last thing to mention about the GS4 is the Air View gestures, which has been used in the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet. The feature allows you to wave or wipe your hand in front of the screen to navigate around, along with this you can also use your fingertips to preview video clips and photos.

The GS4 is currently available for pre-order and has a release date of April, 26 exactly a week after the HTC One is officially released. The 16 GB version of the GS4 starts out at $199 for a two year contract.

Which phone do you think will be more successful?

Samsung Galaxy S4 hands-on

You say you want a revolution? Too bad, because this Galaxy smartphone update is just that… an update. Samsung’s newly unveiled Galaxy S 4 is an incremental step up, an evolution less “inspired by nature” and more by last year’s GS III.
