The global computer gaming industry is an amazing $65 billion a year industry and with great anticipation for the new PlayStation and Xbox gaming consoles, the industry will certainly continue to grow this year. With Sony in the works to release their newest installment to the PlayStation franchise with the PS4 at the end of this year, all eyes turned to rival Microsoft too see what they have planned as far as gaming consoles go. Well a lot of questions and speculations regarding the new Xbox console may be answered tomorrow when the company unveils the console at its Redmond, Washington, headquarters according to Yahoo.
Xbox live users will be able to watch the event live on their consoles and the event will also be streamed lived online tomorrow morning. It is interesting that Microsoft will unveil their new system just weeks before the big E3 convention. The company mentioned that this early unveiling is to get fans excited about what is to come and that they want to use E3 for more as a platform to showcase what games the new system will have.
“This new Xbox is of massive importance to Microsoft. It is a piece of a larger war for the consumer that it is battling. They want to be fully integrated with the consumer whether it’s in the living room or mobile,” P.J. McNealy, CEO and founder of Digital World Research said.
The pressure to have a popular long lasting gaming system seems to get tenser with ever next gen gaming console, so for Microsoft this new Xbox will go a long way among where they stand in comparisons to Sony and Nintendo. It doesn’t seem like it but it has actually been eight years since the Xbox 360 came out, so to say Tuesday’s live event is big may be a huge understatement.
“I think they’re going to try to have their cake and eat it too, they will try to get casual people for entertainment while keeping the hardcore gamers interested,” Ryan McCaffrey executive editor at IGN.com said.
“They want their console on all the time, whether it’s a mom watching Amazon video, the son playing a game and the dad watching TV on another app that’s their goal,” McCaffrey said.
So if you are an Xbox fan I am sure you already know about the unveiling event, let’s hope all of the pent up excitement will be rewarded with a cool, popular new gaming console.
