MacBook Pro Retina Display with 13.3-inch Slimmer Design Revealed by Apple

MacBook Pro 2012

San Jose, CA was the location of Apple’s big launch party on Wednesday Oct. 23 in which they finally revealed the much anticipated iPad Mini. Although the iPad Mini dominated the event and rightly so, there was also a new Laptop, and Desktop that they introduced to the public.

The audience and the general public finally got the actual price tag on the iPad Mini which will start off at $329. It may be no surprised the iPad Mini is more expensive than the Kindle Fire, and the Nexus 7 which both are also the same size as the iPad Mini (7 inches).

Once Apple released all the details about the iPad Mini, they moved onto introducing their newest laptop in the MacBook line; the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display. The new 13-inch pro will have a stunning resolution like no other MacBook has had, with a 2,500 resolution it gives the laptop a look that is four times brighter, more colorful than its predecessors.

The Laptop will feature dual Thunderbolt ports, HDMI output, dual USB ports, a Core i5 processor and 256 gigabytes of storage, but it will not have a DVD drive.  The laptop is less than an inch thick and only weights 3.5 pounds which makes this laptop the lightest MacBook ever according to the Huffington Post.

“Everything on it is absolutely gorgeous, I think the most exciting part about this computer is what you can’t see, which is the inside,” Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing said at the event. The starting price is set at $1,699 and Apple wants to start shipping as soon as next week. Along with introducing their newest laptop they also unveiled their newest desktop which is the iMac.

Even though Apple maybe dominated in the laptop world, it appears that Microsoft has them beat slightly in the desktop world, so the introduction to the iMac just before Microsoft reveals Windows 8 could be a positive move.

The basic iMac model will feature an i5 processor, a new Apple Fusion drive which blends a 128GB flash drive with a standard hard drive that is either 1TB or 3TB in size according to CNET. The model will be available in two sizes, the 21.5 inch model will cost you $1,299 and will start shipping next month, and then there is the 27 inch model for $1,799 that will start shipping in December.

So if you take a look back to September when Apple released the iPhone 5 the company has been crazy busy dishing out all new products. Before the end of the year Apple will have released the iPhone 5, iPod Touch, iPad Mini, 13-inch MacBook Pro, the new iMac and the Mac Mini, to me that is quite impressive no matter what company it is.
