Dodge Ram’s Paul Harvey Speech, “So God Made A Farmer” Super Bowl Commercial

Paul Harvey So God Made A Farmer

A commercial aired during Super Bowl 47 that rang true across all of the fields and farms of America. The Super Bowl ad was for the Dodge Ram with the slogan, “Guts, Glory, Ram.” My wife, Carisa Mackey is the daughter of a farmer and as I came out of the bathroom she told me how I had missed out. I rushed to the computer to find this amazing Dodge Ram Super Bowl commercial. I had a hard time finding this gem on YouTube.

Digging deep, I found one Dodge company called Cherry Hill Cars sharing the video that was published on February 3rd, 2013. In addition to the video they released the entire speech by Paul Harvey that spoke of how hard a farmer works, the diligence that is required and the utmost care and persistence that is needed to be successful. From an additonal video released by Farmers.com it was stated that Paul Harvey made this speech at the National FFA Convention in 1978. On Farmer.com’s website they state, “New Ram Trucks Super Bowl Commercial “Farmer” recognizes contribution of Farmers! We have replaced our original video with this new version to support Future Farmers of America.”

Dodge Ram To The Farmer In All Of Us

Paul Harvey was an American icon that graced the airwaves of US radio stations with his knowledge, quips, poems and detailed advice. Paul Harvey Aurandt worked for ABC Radio Networks and touched so many American’s hearts that his legacy will live on forever. Paul Harvey died on February 28th, 2009 but as you can see, he will live on forever with exceptional speeches and wisdom through things like nationwide Super Bowl ads.

I’m proud today to see everyone sharing such amazing speeches of Paul Harvey and that he is still receiving the respect he deserves. I read Paul Harvey Juniors book: More of Paul Harvey Jr’s The Rest of the Story and it literally changed my life. The wisdom of hard work, patience, love and peace that is in these works of Paul Harvey are amazing.

If you haven’t seen the Dodge Ram Super Bowl spot featuring, “So God Made A Farmer” you really need to take a look at this amazing poem and slideshow of American hardwork, blood, sweat and tears. This is to the American Farmer out there that deserves more recognition for building the farms that feed America and the world… and that’s, the rest of the story. Good day!

Super Bowl XLVII Dodge Ram Commercial Guts Glory Ram Keep Plowing

Ram Trucks Super Bowl Commercial Farmer – Keep Plowing Spot

And on the eighth day, God looked down on his planned paradise and said, “I need a caretaker.” So God made a farmer.

God said, “I need somebody willing to get up before dawn, milk cows, work all day in the field, milk cows again, eat supper, then go to town and stay past midnight at a meeting of the school board.” So God made a farmer.

God said, “I need somebody willing to sit up all night with a newborn colt and watch it die, then dry his eyes and say,’Maybe next year,’ I need somebody who can shape an ax handle from an ash tree, shoe a horse with hunk of car tire, who can make a harness out hay wire, feed sacks and shoe scraps. Who, during planting time and harvest season will finish his 40-hour week by Tuesday noon and then, paining from tractor back, put in another 72 hours.” So God made the farmer.

God said, “I need somebody strong enough to clear trees and heave bales, yet gentle enough to yean lambs and wean pigs and tend the pink-comb pullets, who will stop his mower for an hour to splint the leg of a meadowlark.”

It had to be somebody who’d plow deep and straight and not cut corners. Somebody to seed, weed, feed, breed, and brake, and disk, and plow, and plant, and tie the fleece and strain the milk, . Somebody who’d bale a family together with the soft, strong bonds of sharing, who would laugh, and then sigh and then reply with smiling eyes when his son says that he wants to spend his life doing what Dad does. “So God made a farmer.”

Loved the Paul Harvey speech for the Ram Truck commerical!! We are farmers and very involved with FFA. Our son is the fifth generation to work on the farm and received the American Farmer Award. (we also are a two-family Ram Truck owners) This commerical was the BEST by far of the whole night!!

Because god is two steps away from Super Bowl ads? A beautiful poem was used to sell trucks. That’s sad. That’s a sad commentary on our values.
