Asteroid Vesta will fly by Earth tonight, June 14, 2012 at 14 lunar distances or 3.35 million miles away or 14 times the distance between Earth and the moon. The asteroid is named 2012 LZ1 and astronomers believe it’s about 1,650 feet (500 meters) wide.
