When it comes to style of a person, a pair of shoes can say a lot about them and the type of look they like to showcase. Money can usually dictate the kind of shoes women and men can buy and the stylish look they represent. However, it just seems to be the brand name that sets expensive shoes apart from your everyday kicks.
One brand name shoe that may be one of the most popular name in the shoe market is Michael Jordan’s Air Jordan’s. Nike just unveiled the newest installment in the Air Jordan franchise with the Air Jordan XX8 (28) at a release event in New York City on Monday December 3, 2012. The shoe is definitely in a different class all by itself and unlike anything Nike has ever put out, while also having critics shaking their heads and given two thumbs down to the unique design.
However, there are still a handful of critics and fans of Jordan shoes that really like the innovative look of the new shoe despite the $250 price tag on them. Members of team Nike, like Oklahoma City guard Russell Westbrook, admire and love the customized design of the 28’s. “It’s very light and very comfortable for sure,” Westbrook said in a statement.
Westbrook will actually be making the Jordan 28 NBA debut tonight when the Brooklyn Nets play host to the Thunder according to YAHOO. There is a lot going on with the Jordan 28 besides the brightly colored neon green and sleek black frame. The shoe has a dynamic fit technology that uses internal straps that wrap up from the mid-sole and integrate with the laces. It does this for lightweight support that moves with the foot providing additional lock down support and comfort.
Along with this, the show also has a multi-directional pattern specially designed on the bottom of the shoe to provide excellent traction and durability for the court. The shoe also originally looks like a big rain boot, but when you unzip the shoe you get the core of the Jordan 28.
“We don’t think of these things as basketball shoes, we think of them as a piece of art,” Vice President of Special Projects/Design for Nike Tinker Hatfield and Jordan Brand Developer Josh Heard said.
The shoe may be indeed a piece of art as the developers have been in the process of making the shoe for the past two years, with time came a very advanced Nike shoe. The new shoe has a ultra-modern stealth design not seen from previous Air Jordan’s and with the combination of technology the Jordan 28 are the most tested and lightest of the Air Jordan’s.
“With the ongoing evolution of the game shoe, I encouraged our entire team to push the boundaries when it came to design, technology, and performance. I really think these Jordan 28’s are basketball answer to the concept car,” Hatfield said.
The shoe is schedule to release to the general public on Feb. 16, 2013.
