Fisher-Price Announces Recall of over 10 Million Toys

Fisher-Price has announced a recall of nearly 11 million toys. Among the recalls include children’s tricycles, a high-chair and infant toys.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission, an independent government agency, considered the toys dangerous and hazardous to children. 7 million of the Fisher-Price Trikes and Tough Trikes toddler tricycles have been recalled due to the faulty and misplaced ignition key. The key has reportedly caused genital injuries to several children.

In addition to the trikes, Fisher-Price is also recalling 2.9 million toys that contain loose parts that could be choking hazards. The recalled high chairs have resulted in 14 reported injuries resulting in several stitches.

Fisher-Price announced that it will issue repair kits for the recalled items but offer no refund or replacement.

Kristina Martin runs Small Time Daycare in Boston, MA and commented on the impact of the recall and the danger to children.

“It’s not uncommon that children injure themselves with toys. It’s good to be aware of certain parts that are known to cause harm so that we can keep an extra eye on those items.”

When asked if she would remove any of the items she explained, “I don’t think it’s necessary. We’ll talk to parents about it and if they don’t want their child playing with the toy, we’ll then take action.”

The specific products and descriptions are available on the CPSC website. if you own one of the listed toys you can call Mattel’s customer service line at 1-800-432-5437.

Haha, I love this ladies response. Seriously, a handful of kids get hurt out of millions of toys? Every single toy would be recalled with that ratio.

What is this country coming to?!
